30 years with a bottom 5 on ice product I can say what I want. Tanking is the way
We already drafted probably the 2 best players of the 2022 draft. Drafted what is probably a superstar last year and Hage which most likely is a top 6. Fowler that looks like a top goalie...and I can go on. People like you are narrow minded and only see one solution. Building a team is way more than that but go on with your pessimism as usual. We can draft number 1 for the next 10 years and some will never be happy.

The reality is it’s a rebuilding club, the recent hot streak shows that there is potential with the club and that it’s developing.

It’s not much more than that. Even really bad teams can go on heaters.

We’re not “in da mix” at all.
I agree. This team will quickly revert to where their talent and coaching indicates they should be. BUt that 3 game streak was sure a nice teaser. Fall for it every f***ing time.

The team has drafted extremely well since 2019, and IMO has stepped up even more since Hughes came on board.

That said, being in a position to draft BPA is never a bad thing. This draft isn’t particularly deep so hoping for a top-10 pick is a good idea, a player there should be an important cog in our rebuild.

This was never the year. Next year things will start getting more interesting.

I think it’s obvious how much less dangerous this team is without Laine.
No depth.

It’ll be that much more dangerous with Demidov, who will actually drive 5-v-5 play which isn’t something Laine has excelled at here, at least not yet.

With the arrival of Carrier, we finally built up this very careful balance of talent, right to left handedness and giving everyone the right time on the ice. With Savard out and Struble in everything got out of whack. All three pairings were f***ed up.

Struble is bad. People like him because he can throw guys around from time to time, but he’s not a good player. Xhekaj has completely overtaken him this season.

Hopefully we can trade Savard for a return at the deadline and let Reinbacher ease in next season on the 3rd pair.

With Laine there’s this constant looming threat that we’re one PP away from a goal. And even without scoring, our PP with Laine can look so dominant that it can shift momentum.

They need an injury free rest of the season to even have a chance to get the wc2. It's a tall ask.

You have to go with dobes. Monty leads the league in starts and you shouldn't bring dobes up to simply sit on the bench as that does not align with Montreal primary mandate of developing their youth.

I would have gone dobes in chicago and Monty in Denver but that's a different topic.
Any injury to an important player like Suzuki, Caufield, Laine and the Habs are done. Lost the 2 games that Laine missed most of.

Does any other team have a worse schedule. Habs get home and they play on Monday (Prime) and then nothing until Friday when they have a back to back for no reason with an away game and then back for a home game.

it’s not that Savard is so much better than Struble. Sure Struble was very rusty. But it goes way beyond the talent disparity. Struble in right now, puts the 5 other Ds playing the wrong TOI and wrong role.

Not liking our chances in this one unless Colorado lays an Ostrich sized egg.
I don't expect Dobes to falter but I do think his shutout streak will end.

Has it been 10 games yet since Newhook did anything worth anything? Could tonight be the night?
He threw a hit in the first period yesterday a pretty decent one at that and then disappeared.

Sounds like Laine and Savy are out again today. I'd like to see these lines....

Heine - Suzy - Cole
Slaf - Dach - Newhook
Andy - Dvo - Gally
Pezz - Evans - Armia

Guhle - Carrier
Lane - Matty
Arber - Struble

Dobes
Monty
I'd flip Andy and Pezz. Anderson plays a far more similar game to Heineman than Pezz does IMO.
Minus the shot and the play making of course but it could be a dangerous line.

Cool. Guess we’ll see Newhook in another 10 games or so.

Our games are dictated by interests other than our own.
I complained on day one this season why didn't we play the Leafs a day earlier on our Traditional Tuesday Night instead of facing a B2B to open the season.
They certainly weren't going to get any better viewership on a Wednesday our building was idle and the Leafs were at home twiddling there thumbs.
I used to think management had to sign off on the schedule before it gets set in stone.
I guess not because I would have made some noise over that one.
