To be fair, the Wings are probably the most motivated team in the league right now, and that is about the most difficult opponent mid-season.

It is crazy that they have more shots in the first period than they had some games. And against the best team in the league.

For me it became evident last season that Lalonde should go. Opponents found the team way too easy to read, and they knew what to expect. One coach even said so during an intermission.

Not sure if Yzerman is to blame for keeping him around as he had to get permission to fire him. Yzerman fault for hiring him, sure.
