Whoa.. 11.5m for Nylander and likely over 8 years. Nylander's new number for next season. :)

Leafs have like one good dman signed for next year. I don't understand how they think they are going to win anything with a patchwork defense every year.

I guess we're different, I like anything that has the crowd engaged and lively. It's the atmosphere in Montreal that makes it the most special place to play in the sport.
no disagreement there - would hate the Bell Centre to become the funeral home Scotia Bank Area is. Just wish habs' fans would save ole for soccer games and find somethin else to chant to express passion and excitement. then again, I have a remote with a mute button

There's no way Marner is getting a new contract.
One of their core guys should’ve been traded last summer and it would’ve been easier to trade Nylander but i really wonder how they’re gonna fit those big contracts AND having a good goalie/good defence

It's the contrived noise I can't stand along with the scoreboard telling me when I should. The spontaneous noise related to the play is awesome.

Tavares contract ends same time as Marner. Marner is already making $10.9m. A $1m pay raise isn't that much to handle. No way Tavares is getting $11m again. He'll be 34. Probably signs at half that, 2 x $5.5m. With an increasing cap, they'll be able to resign Marner too.

I think Tavares takes the discount and Marner stays around the same. Theyll have all four still in a couple years
I wonder how much of a discount though? If he's still productive offensively next season and scores 65-70 points I'd say he'd be looking at something similar to that Giroux deal with the Sens which was 3 x 6.5m at the very least.
