Frozen Failure

They got business in my hockey, and I hate it.

Even so, four points is terrible. Even if you account for ice time, his 0.56 points per 60 minutes played is amongst the worst on the team. The only regular player below him is Dumba. League wide, he’s tied for 586th in scoring/60 (out of 671 skaters who have played at least ten games).

If this is an improved Lundkvist, it’s still not good enough. These are Craig Ludwig numbers.

It is terrible.

I do think there's something to be said for the defense not being utilized as much for scoring now, because Harley and Miro aren't lighting it up with primary assists and goals.

I dunno, he's still not getting better opportunities but he's not dominating in the ice time he's getting.

Is it that he's not scoring or is the team just not scoring as much as they could be compared to other competitive teams? We're mid pack in scoring, but tied for 1st in GA (the good 1st).

So is he playing poorly? Probably not and we'll have to look at other stats to judge tbqh.

Man, I think this is a bit of revisionist history.

He dumped Faksa a couple of seasons too late.

He only dumped Suter because Pavelski retired. It was only one summer prior when Nill was snapping at Saad for daring to ask about buying Suter out. Had Pavelski returned this season Suter would still be a Star.
Really? I stated actual events (albeit sort of summarizing many negative posts and posters on this board.) You added unfounded "negative attributions" to Nill's actions.

Your opinion is that he dumped Faksa a few years too late, but in those years, the Stars had very successful seasons. Yes, RF's goal totals went down from his early years, but it is hard to say he had no value, or that other GM's didn't see that his value declined and just didn't want him at that salary either. Nill did trade him when he needed the room for the salary cap, which is a fact.

Ditto on Suter. You have no idea what Nill was thinking on Suter, and in fact, Nill has traded other guys with close team connections (i.e., Jordie Benn). Again, your opinion is that he was afraid of Pavs reaction, but face it, players get dumped all the time without necessarily regarding their friends on the team. And Nill chastising a report for asking? Well, he has to defend his roster while they are here, and in fact, he is usually gracious when they leave, too.

It seems to me you put on your HF poop colored goggles, which is exactly the type of thing I was posting about.

My HF poop color glasses think Nill has done a great job for years. He's turned over 90% of the roster multiple times without ever doing a real rebuild, and the team keeps bouncing back to be competitive in each new form.

But yeah, I also criticize a couple of things about him because no one is perfect. My main one I remember you getting mad about was Nill keeping Bowness too long when it was clear Bowness wasn't doing a good job.

Faksa's game fell way off his last couple seasons, and the problem with having him on the roster was Bowness was overplaying him and hurting the Stars in the process.

Jordie Benn was traded as a rental to a playoff team in a season when the Stars were going to miss the playoffs. It's not like he made some cold-blooded move. He gave Jordie the chance to join a playoff team.

I think you misunderstand. I'm not mad at Nill at all this season. I like all of the moves he's made except the Dumba contract.

Well, that is fair enough. I didn't like it because of the Pavs hit and probable no offense left, but understand why he did it. (more related to Pavs than I think Suter, but another story.

Cheers.
