Great play by Duchene to bump that back to Harley
Also so disappointed Stankoven didn't get the breakaway
I think he’s just cursed right now. That puck jumped a foot on him on that breakaway lolStankoven is entering the "doing way too much" stage of his slump, lol.
I noted Razor said Miro looks tired. TBH, he and Harley have both had some gross turnovers the last few games. Maybe they are both a bit tired. PDB plays Miro over 30 minutes a night and he probably should play him a bit less, IMHO.
Also, the last 3 games Stank has been losing more puck battles than usual. Not sure if the sample size is big enough to mean anything, but maybe he is a bit tired, too.
Despite having played three minutes less per night and less than half the total PP time of Miro, Harley has now tied Miro in scoring on the season.I noted Razor said Miro looks tired. Sir, we can't be doing things that would help us win in the playoffs.Jettison Dumba, call up Bichsel, keep Lindell and Nils paired together and figure out the best combo from the other four defensemen. Then play Heiskanen and Harley a little less so they aren't exhausted before March.
I know this is an attempt at humor, but geez, do you really think a twice in a row GM of the year would think like that? Every year this forum says things like:Sir, we can't be doing things that would help us win in the playoffs.
In fairness, this board was probably right about Dumba. But Lubs replaced Hakanpaa one for one and is maybe a bit of an improvement. In other defense news, he did remain patient with Nils L and his patience seems to have been rewarded. I think Miro, Harley, and Esa are all top pair candidates. Bischel, Lubs are good second pair, and Nils L and the others are fine for third pair. Getting Bischel (the vaunted "internal improvement") and another true top 4 like Tanev and the Stars will look good on D heading into the playoffs. And not bad if they don't get one. Also remember how much we on this board were crucifying the Lubushykin deal and he's turned into a solid middle 4 RD for us.
Agreed, Dumba is bad and was a bad deal. Sometimes these things work out like you expect, and sometimes they pleasantly surprise.
Not sold on Nils even if he's improved this year. He's got like 4 points on the year? A small PMD who doesn't put up points won't last long, even if his D is better than it used to be.
Man, I think this is a bit of revisionist history.I know this is an attempt at humor, but geez, do you really think a twice in a row GM of the year would think like that? Every year this forum says things like:
Nill won't dump Faksa and we will have cap problems (He dumped Faksa)
Nill/PBD won't let rookies play (we have three rookies FW and a D man (if Bish comes back up)
Nill would never dump Suter because Suter must have some pictures of him. (He dumped Suter)
Nill will never trade for a top D man because he won't give up assets (He got Tanev)
I could go on all day, but you get the point. And, I bet someone brings up a deal that didn't go so well, or perhaps theorize (without any evidence) that Nill could have acquired a better option than what he did.) Yes, he has made some mistakes, but on par, he has and will continue to be a great GM.
Even so, four points is terrible. Even if you account for ice time, his 0.56 points per 60 minutes played is amongst the worst on the team. The only regular player below him is Dumba. League wide, he’s tied for 586th in scoring/60 (out of 671 skaters who have played at least ten games). He gets minimal offensive time and otherwise just plays garbage minutes with cold lines. He's been trying pretty solidly in his time on the ice, and I think PDB is going to run Miro and Harley into the ground before game 50 after doing it for so long.
