Coelacanths are ancient fish
That live in the ocean deep
They have lobed fins and scales like armor
And secrets that they keep

They were thought to be extinct
For millions of years gone by
But then they were rediscovered
To the scientists' surprise

They are called living fossils
Because they have not changed much
They are part of evolution's history
And still have much to teach us
