I actually agree with the bolded. But that statement would also apply if you were talking about Frederic and Brazeau or Frederic and Wahlstrom. Which is why I don’t understand why you feel the need to defend Frederic. All three members of that line have played poorly and none of them should be immune from criticism.
No one's immune from criticism - there's just no sense in saying all three of those guys are the same. Brazeau's production came by playing with Marchand and Lindholm, and Wahlstrom hasn't produced anything. It's an I'll formed line to start with and again it didn't cost them last night.

4th line were routed but not a peep about it in here (if you want to go down the "immune from criticism" road).

That's crazy he didn't look over his shoulder!?!
When you are in your own end & pucks are behind your net its usually a good idea to be looking behind you to make sure D man etc does not sneak up and catch u flat footed..Freddy was standing between hashmarks or close to it .End of the day though it's simple math, Freddy is a UFA seasons end having a bad season. He wants to be paid for the past 2 seasons .If I was to wager my own money I would say his days are numbered here.

I agree - can't see him here next year. Wonder if he'd have seen some shifts in the top 6 if he were under contract for a bit.

Oh, they are all very much the same in the sense that they are interchangeable, easily replaced bottom 6 parts that don’t warrant nearly this much discussion.

4th line has been bad for a while now.

It's frustrating watching a player play a certain way when you know if he played another way his production and usefulness to the team would increase.I do not think Freddy is a good fighter but I think he should be playing on the edge a bit more & moving his feet more.Maybe his production was product of better teams which in case is kind of what you are saying mentioning top 6.

Think the problem is that they're not bottom 6 interchangeable parts. IMO Brazeau needs to be top 6 to provide enough positives offensively to justify his spot on the roster. When they picked Wahlstrom off waivers they said he needed to be top six/offensive zone to use his strengths but then then they dropped him here so who knows what they think he is now. To me those two look like top six/specialist or bust types.

I think Freddy is convinced he's a goal scorer and not a tough guy and it's left him in a place that doesn't suit his skill set.
Ideally what he needs is to be put onto the 4th line and told to hit first, don't worry about your goal scoring just pick up any loose puck garbage you can but hit first. In essence, be Kastelic. If he doesn't, sit him until he does.
Problem is that leaves nobody for the third line. You could try calling up Poitras but I think he still hasn't learned how to avoid hits and he's still small and I suspect that would end badly despite offensive flashes.
I still think the same thing I did in the season opener. We are 1 top 6 forward away from this all fitting together well. Without that guy the dominos fall all over.

Freddy's production was very much a product of better teams.
