all that is from the thrun turnover...

The sharks really need some better defensemen. Walman is out and it shows. still we need at least one or two more high quality guys back there.

I like the forwards...

Skytrain kinda sucks too. They're not expanding service to out this far for another 5 years or whatever (tore down our long-time White Spot location to begin construction on its ashes) and that means driving into Surrey to find the nearest station, or at the very least driving to the major bus loop that's like half an hour away to take it to Lougheed station and catch the Canada Line.

Not ideal in any combination. Also because there's just the one station by the arena getting on the train after the game is brutal too. To the point that you're almost better off getting on in the opposite direction and riding to the end of the line to catch a return train from there just so there are seats.

vancouver's transit system is shockingly hot garbage for being such a major metropolitan area.

I got a buddy who has a condo super close to the Canadian Tire on Cambie and Broadway and he says it's been a nightmare for as long as he can remember.

It's also because his help flew the zone. Puck stayed in because there was nobody to receive it and kicked off the whole sequence that led to the penalty. Off-puck support has been terrible all season.

A lot of it is the citizenry. Vancouver is so affluent and high end that they don't want to pay for transit that the riff-raff will use but not them.

They've also killed a lot of other cultural stuff around the city. They whinged about the Vancouver Grand Prix IndyCar race and it was gone. They whinged about the Celebration of Lights international fireworks festival and I think it's neutered. They've bitched and moaned about Playland and the PNE every summer and it's always threatened that one of the largest fairs/exhibitions in Canada (with a ton of history) could be significantly pared down or go extinct.

Vancouver has had a rep as a "no fun city" for a long time and a lot of it is down to rich jerks with downtown condos complaining that people enjoying themselves is too noisy for them to sit in their ivory towers and clutch their brandy goblets.

Darranged Oreo Dolphins? Is that how Vancouver got their name? I've never really understaood the significance of the Orca, but then I don't know the backstory of the Canucks.

I hope this is a fun game tonight. Maybe a win to start the Christmas holiday season.

SNOG

Sharks 4 (Celebrini, Eklund, Granlund, Toffoli)
Canucks 5 (Boeser, Debrusk, Garland, Joshua, Hoglander)
I think they wanted to call themselves the Vancouver Canadians, but went with Canucks instead.
