Dickinson is a good defender. Or at least has the mobility to be refined into a good defender. Sahlin Wallenius, Misskey, and Roberts all also have upside in their own zone with assorted warts and risk.

Plus defensive defenders are easier to acquire than offensive ones becuase it's offence from the back end that costs a premium. The league is full of grindy d-first blueliners that can be paired with the offensively minded prospects the team has.
Yeah, I dont mind a few more liljgren/ceci types. Thrun, Mukh, Thompson have not shown themselves to be clear NHL dmen yet. Sitll young of course, but they just havent shown it yet, and Ferraro has regressed so far that he too is arguably not an NHLer anymore.

This is very good though. the sharks clearly have a good core and are not far away (this last 5 mins aside). they arent far away, but they need one more offensive defenseman who can be threat to score other than walman and they need one more vet D.

I will be interested to see if Cagnoni, Dick, or Pohlcamp can take a job next year, but they clearly need help back there. Walman's absence is really glaring...

Can't start Asky behind this defense for his own sake. No position is more mental than the goalie position.

Atleast the Sharks are almost guaranteed a top 3 pick.

I don't know if I blame him. Grier traded away their 1 goaltender for a lockerroom cancer and the moment that happened the team just gave up. They're playing selfish and angry and coasting and not communicating. It's only gonna get worse.

seriously?

You think Georgiev came in and told everyone to just stop skating and stop giving a crap and they were all like "f***.. he's right."?

This feels like a strong case of seeing what you want to see. A bad team that has been intermittently bad all season is bad again now, except now you have something you can point the finger at instead of just "they're a bad team"

yeah that's a weird take since they are literally playing with the goalie of the future right now

I said it when it happened. I mentioned the culture, and everyone was like "who cares about the culture"??

Tell that to the Buffalo Sabres.
Culture problem? they had third period leads against several top teams in the league. Carolina, Winnipeg, Colorado, Edmonton.... These are the class acts of the league. Yeah, they had a rough 5 minutes. But, the sharks have not had any culture issues even after the trade.

They really miss walman though. You can see what happens when your clear #1 Dman, possibly top 10 D in the entire league this year, is missing.

No, but it's pretty clear how well liked Blackwood was. They're playing like they don't care.

I accept a bad team, but I struggle with a lazy one. That's what I'm seeing tonight.

Askarov in the locker room at intermission asking where his D coverage was and Ferraro just looks him straight in the eye and says "who gives a f***. Life is a pointless struggle and nothing matters."

And Georgiev just sits there, nodding knowingly.

I feel like they played quite well in both periods save for the last few minutes of period two which is typically how bad teams lose games. To me they’re playing like they care and they’re out their fighting for each other. They just suck

These teams are going to regret winning these games vs the Sharks in a year or 2. They are going to be like "If we had only let them win a few more they wouldn't have these *Insert players*"

So go ahead and keep beating us. Tanking has proven to be the way to go. Pens and Hawks have created dynasties out of it.

Lazy?? they had a bad 5 mins. A unscreened shot from 40 feet beat askarov. Great shot, but Asky has to have it.

Then a borderline interference on a 3-2 that was very poorly played. Then a 5-3. Horrific 5 mins, but the harks were outplaying the nucks overall before that. Maybe even, but certainly not lazy or dominated.
