I honestly don't know why Stanley was out there on the PK. I think I'd rather have had almost anyone else

Watch the shift he covers no one... he should be cutting guys off with his size not trying finesse - take out the pass and let helle handle the shooter

pick something and do it... dont fishtail because you dont know how to read the play
He went down to attempt a block - just like any dman would do in that situation
He's not playing a 2 on 1, he's protecting the front of the net - and when you're outnumbered, the only real play is to set up to cut off the pass.
He can't take one of them and leave the other alone without even attempting to black the pass.
These guys on the PK spend their entire shift trying to intercept or block lanes - they are not going to one man when short handed

Game started good and things looked to go our way after that penalty but a series of unfortunate events and we are down 1

But still 2 periods of hockey at home against a rookie tender. Gotta keep at it.

Cognitive dissonance is a hell of a drug

His job is bottom pairing, playing sheltered minutes. He's not as bad at it as you think he is or you want him to be
I'm sorry, I didn't know I was talking to his lover ;)

Agree to disagree, I think there are plenty of better options out there and wish we would move on from him. There has not been a lot of growth out of him since his first season here.

JoMo can't kill.the whole 2:00

Pionk is the other LHD and he was in the box

Fleury and Samberg are both hurt

I have no problem shitting on him when he f***s up

His first 6 games or so after coming back from injury were brutal but he's gotten better as he's played more. Same thing can be said of Heinola

I just wish people would be more objective across the board, but I think people like the affirmations they get from being part of the group think

So Pionk played the puck cleanly , and got called for tripping.
Hate the call , we can only hope the turkey coma wears off. Helle must be a vegan :sarcasm:
We don’t look quick and Ottawa is forechecking us very well

Stanley is fine as a 3rd pair defenseman. But so are a ton of guys. He's okay on the PK I guess. They just want a big body out there to get in lanes and he's got the first part of that equation down pat.

On the negative side, he's slow and ungainly and prone to getting burned. He gives up bigger gaps and is often backing off. He also takes a lot of penalties. He often looks bad by the eye test...so big he's easy to identify and the bad thing that happens usually has something to with his immobility.

There was one play in the 1st where Heinola had the puck below his goal line and was looking for an option and Stanley just stood 5 feet away from him not moving. Heinola had to avoid a couple of forecheckers and eventually had to force something that didn't work out. Bad communication I guess but wtf? Just skate away a bit to give Heinola a passing option or skate in front of him to run some interference on the forecheck. Help your partner out there.

To be fair I've seen Heinola on the left a couple of time when he's supposed to be on the right...but I guess that's what happens when you're getting switched from side to side every game or two.

Winnipeg has played a super aggressive pk all season with the player closest to the puck applying pressure...
