Finally received my new Will Smith home jersey today (ordered on Black Friday) and was sure it would be a maintenance day. Instead, Will practiced on the 4th line.

Sharks 4 (Smith, Celly, Wally and Ek)
Oilers 3 (Draix3)

kind of stunned we have the superior PP+PK% thought they were pushing 30+%

That said, I think San Jose gives a good, but ultimately futile effort.

4-3 Oil. McDavid, Drasaitl*2, Bouchard
Celebrini, Smith, Granlund

Oilers 3 (McDavid x2, Draisaitl)
Sharks 1 (Toffoli)

Editing score since the future Stanley Cup Sharks starting goalie is going to be in net. He will never let in 4+

Askarov!

Gonna go 4-1 Oil. Hopefully the guys play a tough road game and Asky keeps it from being 6-1. But we have an anemic PP and they have a very strong one.

Drai, McD, Hyman, Kapanen.
Toff.

Time to stop giving Thrun and Kostin chances when they’ve repeatedly shown not to be NHL material

Ive been pretty open about my dislike for Thrun but I thought he showed enough on Thursday to earn another start. I don’t mind sitting Shakir. I’m guessing there’s gonna be a lot of flip-flopping of the two for the next little while.

I agree. Muk seems like next in line to be provided opportunities to stick in the NHL but it’s probably not going to be the smoothest transition. I think him and Thrun will do enough to warrant buying out Vlasic’s last year and/or moving Ferraro with the expectation that they would be regulars in the lineup next season but we’ll see. I’m only surprised they haven’t activated Vlasic yet. He’s been practicing a while now with the team.

If it’s just one game to protect him from getting burned by McDavid on the road that’s fine but Mukhamadullin needs NHL game reps. There’s at least a chance he’s a part of our future while Thrun has definitively shown he won’t be.

The schedule is pretty brutal for the next ten games: 2 against Vegas, Edmonton, Vancouver, Tampa, Nj, Minnesota and Calgary (and Philly, Utah). It's gonna be a learning experience for regardless.

Of all the games this is definitely the biggest risk to Mukhamadullin's confidence. Obviously some other good teams in there with skill, but no one who can individually just make a fool of a player like McDavid can.
