we we fought these guys for the last playoff spot. Now they are at the top of our conference while we at the bottom.

They added PLD, Roy, Vrana, Logan Thompson, and Chychrun while shifting Protas and McMichael to wing. Meanwhile the Wings added Motte, Gus, Tank, Kasper, AlJo, and Talbot.

Imagine how much better the Wings would be doing if they added 2 legit NHL defensemen and a 2C?

Also, Strome >>> Copp, both UFA signings same year for less cap hit at that.

I took my family to that Blues game -- including my 8 year old grandson. That was his first hockey game.
He turned to me in his Seider jersey about halfway through and said "Our team sucks. We suck!"

I wasn't one of the people in the crowd booing though -- I'm not mad. Just disappointed.

And most of that disappointment I blame on Yzerman. He apparently felt that he had to fire the coach to make him the Spacegoat. You could have Scotty Bowman in his prime and he couldn't win with this team of burned out vets, soft gliders, and AHL-level filler.

But I will say: That 4th line of Ras-Kasper-Fischer is pretty good. Good thing they'll only be on the ice for 6 minutes.

We need to trade Talbot ASAP before he steals us a few wins.

Signing bad players to bad contracts by design, the Yzerplan
That’s missing the point. Copp, Compher, Gustafson, Kane, Tarasenko, Chairot, etc. don’t matter. Yzerman isn’t concerned with making the playoffs with this group just to get swept out of the first round.

This is big picture shit lol.

Funny thing to say when the Wings are playing a team that acquired better players last summer as I've already mentioned.

It's time to clean house in the pro scout department.

No way we catch Chicago or SJ. 3rd is the best we can hope for right now.
Anything is possible! There are only a few points difference. Anyway, I don't fancy catching up like last year and then failing (priority curse!). I'd rather do something for the draft. But maybe we'll get lucky as the third or fourth worst team, which we didn't have in the draft a few years ago in the lottery. That was really bad and hopefully it's our turn now...

I am impressed with the Caps head coach. They were very low event hockey last year and their goalie carried them to a playoff spot.

This year they upgrade personnel and are quite the offensive juggernaut. Carbery seems like a smart one and adjusts to his teams talents pretty well.

Looking kinda vanilla so far. Maybe Ovi scores 26 goals and breaks Gretzky's record tonight.
