My expectations are probably lower than most when it comes to the Bruins . Sure , I want them to win a Cup but I’m content if they are a competitive team and make the playoffs and don’t lose to the Leafs . I need something to watch . I’m not a movie / tv show guy and if the Bruins weren’t in a playoff race l don’t think I would watch hockey at all. After a bad Bruins loss , I really don’t feel like watching hockey. That was a very capable performance. Bruins had the schedule advantage and the Caps were definitely looking pretty gassed by the end, but have to give the boys credit, they made the most of it. Solid defensively, the offense improved as the game went along. Still blew a few golden chances, but they got the job done eventually and put away a strong if tired opponent.
I thought the Wahlstrom major was arguable both ways. Could have been just a minor, but, while not malicious, it was definitely sloppy play and put Fehervary in a vulnerable position. so can live with the call. More importantly the Bruins followed it with probably their best kill of the season. Masterful. More of that please. The refereeing standard was otherwise poor. The Caps got away with a lot of nonsense. On the positive side it fired up Lindholm and I liked the results. Feisty Lindy seems to play with an extra gear. More of that too would be nice.
While Geekie didn't score in this one he had some more very good chances. Seems to be getting himself in good areas a lot more lately. Sacco's had a positive effect on him, amongst others.
Sway didn't have to do much but was fine. Vrana beat him with a rocket but that happens.
Hopefully whatever is wrong with Pasta is not too serious but he hasn't looked right all season. Giving him a proper chance to rest and get healthy could well be a good thing in the long run. And the rest of the team is probably better-placed now to cope in his absence as long as it's not too lengthy. Fingers crossed he can return to full fitness.
The Bruins sell hope, it's what they do. Mostly unfulfilled but we keep coming back for more. That's the way of it. And they're threatening to do it again. I wrote this team off after the debacle in Seattle, and I'm not jumping fully back on board so fast. They still have a lot of work to do and there are still obvious deficiencies in the roster. But they are trending in the right direction and it's pleasing to see most of the guys now playing closer to their ability and potential and to see more of a cohesive, purposeful team on the ice. Whether they are actually building something of substance, who knows. For now, a nice way to go into the Christmas mini-break, and that will do.
Great postIt's a headscratcher as I watched a fair amount of the Blues' games lately. Maybe its Claude's influence, but it sure seems Monty wanted out of here. I fail to see another explanation, but what do I really know.
We have something legit twith Lindholm, Brad and Coyle. Game on the line, they are there, down one or up one.
Pasta's rib or shoulder has to heal. Period. See you in Feb. Without his one-timer, he's, well not a liabilty with PPG of 1.0 but . . .
Oesterle unpectacularly eating up minutes until Hampus comes back. Pleasant surprise.
I just don't understand what TFred's game is . . . slower and lower IQ Heinen?
Team (and us) dislike WASH with heat of 1000 suns. Didn't like Lindholm chirping Caps bench after the goal, but the cross check and chirping suggest something lit a fire under him. A mean Lindholm makes me smile come playoff time!
Did I hear correctly on the broadcast last night that the coaching staff had Zadorov watch video of McAvoy when he was paired with Gryz? With all due respect to the coaching staff I hope Zad went to the video team and said " the tape with the little fella was fine but please get me the one where he played with Big Z".McAvoy/Zadorov look to be settling in as a legit top pair. Won't have to hear about Zadorov being a $5 mil third pair guy anymore.
A player coasts for months and you're comfortable giving him 4/16?Freddy floor is a third liner and it looks like his ceiling is as well until shown otherwise - but he does have skills and I’d be very comfortable offering him 4/16

My eye test does. He makes poor decisions with puck, overhandles and has average speed and below average strength. I am not a huge believer in corsi, but we are talking small sample size on strong teams. He's 5v5 Corsi numbers are the best on the team and was 2nd last year, which gives us two seasons of evidence that Poitras tilts the ice in the Bruins favor for puck possession, shot attempts and offensive pressure.
I promise you this is not Jack Studnicka. The eye test and the underlining numbers do not show a 4A player. He just needs man strength.
Ok hello he did not return to the game does that sound like a minor injury to you? Upper body injury do you not recall him entering that same area this summer? Hello obviously he's going to be out long-termCan you start posting links with your baseless claims because there’s been nothing said about Pasta being out “indefinitely for the foreseeable future”.
and I do !Gotta love Marchy!!!
Merry Christmas Eve! Just thought I'd put a positive spin on it I started off not liking Poitras after watching him in my home town in his OHL days but he changed my mind by watching him with the big club ...kid will stick soon and get some points....he's got some serious compete level intangibles to go along with creativity .... the key will be staying healthy. It will take time but I do hope they make him a call up at some point, his confidence must be off the charts right now, would love to see if lessons learned in the AHL translates to the NHL...that's what developments all aboutMy eye test does. Zads-Mac
Lindholm-Carlo
Lohrei/Spoons-Peeke
That has potential to be an amazing d core if lindholm is fully healed and Carlo keeps building on his steadiness.
