I know Evans is unlikely to replicate this season, but is a late 1st really worth it? Even if he's just a 30 point center, he's still money on the faceoffs, an absolute workhorse, and arguably the best PKer in the league. Hopefully, he agrees to 3.5x4.

No, I resign him. That late first has way more chances of being a just than be valuable during our competitive window. Evans though, is pretty much a perfect middle 6 player.

Man the 4 posters that take repeated shots in the Dach thread seem to be really f***ing triggered that folks are happy that he’s having a good game.

He’s had it rough, glad he can get it going. Either side people are on (trade or keep) him scoring helps both sides of that argument.

What an amazing period by Montreal.

Goal 1: Laine uses his big frame to lean on his checker & protect the puck. He draws three guys to him leaving Guhle with a beautiful cross seam pass to Newhook. Newhook to Dach. Beauty goal. Newhook's 1st assist!

Goal 2: Bad change for Florida. Hutson takes the puck away drops to Newhook. Newhook throws a pass up center ice to a speeding Dach. He turns Knight. Another beautiful goal.

Goal 3: Jake & Army conspire to steal the puck SH. Earn a 2 on 1. Evans shoots! Goal! Ha. Ha. Ha.

Damn, a SHG by Evans again. 2G from Dach. 2A from Newhook. Game changer if those 2 get going.

Dobes perfect and looking steady & confident.

Great, great period.
Goal 2: Laine back checks two times to get that puck free.

Yup. He developed into this player under us. We'd have to trade a lot to replace the void he would leave up the middle. The rookies will take time.

Still performing extremely well with tough deployment against top lines. Long term he's a 10-15 goal a year guy (maybe a bit more if he can find a spot on a top 6 like Stephenson and Danault) but we need him to be a top shutdown guy.
No doubt he's playing well! I think he's a good bottom-6 player on a hot streak - I don't think he's turning a corner at 28 shooting just about 30%. Shouldn't be anywhere near the top-6 if we're a competitive team, but really like him in a defensive bottom-6 role.

Boo hoo. if you feel attacked it’s bc you know you’ve been one of the obsessive shitters
Way to dodge the question. I'm saying there's a clear difference between "nice! I hope Dach keeps it up and helps us be in the mix" and "lol where are the dumb haters at now?". I've been clear that I'm happy he's doing better lately but it needs to happen for a longer stretch. Does that make me an obsessive shitters? Can't say I'm surprised given your delusional comments about the defensive game in his thread.

The board already loves him despite abysmal performances. That is the problem.

I haven't watched his game except for a couple minutes, but I'm not really looking at goals and assists. I want to see the guy who used to carry the puck and protect the puck... the guy who could use his reach and size to gain an advantage to the net.

I only care about the G and A in the sense that it might help him click something mentally on his journey back to the type of game that got me excited about him in the first place.

Middle-6 implies that he's going to spend time as our second line center. No thanks, personally.

I agree. I want him to find his game as much as the next one. I just think that as fans we need to have higher standards. Accepting bad performances night after night makes the guys complacent. Cheers to Kirby's redemption arc. Hope he end the yr at 50 pts and makes me eat crow.
