Stopping a one-goal game with 6 minutes left was beyond bizarre. Seriously one of the most surreal things I've witnessed while watching a hockey game; couldn't believe they did that.

I loved the Jagr ceremony. I looked at the time from the video on NHL.com. It was 3:28, and if you subtract the first 40 seconds where they showed the goal and the typical "take a quick break after a goal to show replays" that they always do, it's much faster the typical TV timeout.

As long as it's sanctioned by the NHL, which it apparently was, and as long as the opposing team was notified, which they were, I was fine having it. Yeah, it's a little odd, especially since it brings up the natural question of "Why didn't they wait 6 minutes?", but if they were going to do a ceremony, they probably had to do it whenever the point was scored.

I can see it being anticlimactic if you have the Jagr point scored 4 minutes into the game, and the game becomes lopsided for either side, so you get people either mad that they left early and missed the ceremony, or annoyed that they have to wait through a dull game to see the ceremony.

There was an initial delay as Toronto had to decide if indeed he had an assist.

Gretzky's total is so inflated because of the way the NHL was in the 1980's. Jimmy Hayes would have scored 35 goals a year in the 80's.

Think we will ever see a game like this again?

Agreed, not shocking as this is the same team who handled the firing of Gallant with a complete lack of class

Nice win, game should have been over after the 2nd if we had buried our chances, hopefully we will rediscover our scoring touch from last year.

Nice win and good over all game by the Bruins, they could have had 7 goals, Pasta no luck should have had 2 anyway. Only negative from this game for me is with Julien benching Pasta after his mistake caused the Panthers goal, that is fine if he wants to do that, but how come Kevan Miller never gets benched? He has caused a lot of turnovers in games and makes numerous mistakes yet he continues to be in the lineup, let him sit and play Morrow, who like C miller can skate with the puck and has made a difference in our breakouts.

Very important two points within the division and the kids were so much fun to watch. They looked pretty relaxed and happy on the bench.

I am loving Blidh and Czarnik. Vatrano getting a goal in his first game back is a huge confidence boost.

WTG Bruins!!

...or his butt!

The announcers made note earlier in the telecast that the league, trying to prop up the franchise, had scheduled four straight original six teams for Florida. So, it's not surprising that the ceremony was permitted.

Happy for J.J., even though he did little for us. But I hope this is not a league wide trend when a milestone occurs. Can you imagine the response when play stops at Boston Garden when Hayes gets his 100th?

It will make the Orr retirement ceremony seem like a trip to McDonalds compared to dinner at Pellana's steakhouse. The emotion will be off the charts :sarcasm:

Why does Kevan Miller get brought up everytime someone's favorite player gets benched for a couple shifts?

Miller's icetime ranges from 12 to 20 minutes a night based on how he's playing. Julien hasn't been shy about adjusting lines and defense pairings during the game based on player performance.

It's also much easier to replace a forward then going with 5 D the rest of a game, I would imagine anyway.

A win is always better than the alternative. Agree that the very odd ceremony for Jagr did steal some of the potential momentum for the Cats. Almost looked as if Jagr said something to the Bruins bench before he went to centre ice. Got the feeling he wasn't completely on board with holding things up either. But hey, take whatever break comes your way.

Jimmy continues to work hard at being effective when he does see the ice. When you only play about 10 minutes a game that's about all you can ask of him right now. He was not turning himself into a liability on every shift. Even had some shifts when he was the guy creating the buzz. Credit to him for finding his way back to this point.

They earned back a small piece of trust with some good play. Want to see that flowing from one game to the next before giving them any major amount of credit. Still have not put together a sustained level of quality play to allow them to get on a much needed run. Teams like the Jackets, Wild and Flyers have recently shown what huge strides a team can make when they do. Given how the standings are shaping up for the second half, need to get themselves into a solid position with one of those 3 spots at the top of the division. It's simply appears to be a must this season if you want to play well into April and beyond.

Now onto Carolina. Let's see what you got!

Agreed to even get close to that would be a extreme long shot. He may hold that record for a long time. Think about it that takes 20 seasons at 94 points to equal 1888. His first year was 1990/91, guy is a rare treat to watch. A modern Gordie Howe skating around and still playing at a high level

Imagine if he hadn't spent three seasons in the KHL...He's still be like 600 or more points behind Gretzky.

True, but if Joe Morrow makes a mistake he sits the next 20 games, Kevan Miller can do no wrong in Claude's eyes same with McQuaid these guys can continue to make blunders and they never sit out the next game.

 I doubt that he'll still be a Bruin in 2067 or that most of us will be here either.
I meant his 100th point as we are always reminded in the GDT starter. He needs only four points. For him that would be an enormous milestone. But it could take him, at this rate, to 2067.

Maybe outside of the Blues game(save for some questionable moments) and the win in Montreal, this may have been the B's best game in terms of effort this season. Could've had 5 or 6. The top 9 looks so much better with Vatrano back and Spooner playing at a higher level. At 2-0 I knew this game was salted away with the way our D has been playing. Colin came back to earth some tonight, but Krug was excellent.

I always thought once a goalie makes a save if the next player for shooting team scores its an unassisted goal.Guess it has to be controlled by one of the 5 defending players on the ice first. That was the cheapest pt I ever saw deflected off his butt and goalie saves it then player gets it on rebound and scores. But congrats Jagr just the same.Great career.

that was a beauty.
but price had to cross over pretty quick on that.

vatrano scores because he keeps the puck in front of him and gets it off quick. such a deceptive release point

Vatrano reminds me of Pacioretty in MTL.Hope he can score as well as he has for them.Would be a huge help for Boston and take pressure off of others
