WAYBACK MACHINE

TONIGHT’S GAME
The Bruins host the Islanders tonight in the 1st of 3 games between these teams and the 1st of 2 of this season’s series at TD Garden

The Bruins are 17-13-3 thus far this season with an 8-8-0 mark on home ice … They are 4-2-3 vs. Metropolitan Division opponents and are 12-7-3 vs. Eastern Conference teams this season.

They opening tonight their 9th of 16 sets of 3-games-in-4-nights to close out the pre-holiday portion of their schedule, as they will play in Florida on Thursday and at Carolina on Friday … They enter this series 4-3-1 in game 1s, 2-4-2 in game 2s and 3-5-0 in game 3s of those sets.

BOSTON vs NEW YORK, LIFETIME SERIES

The Bruins and Islanders are meeting for the 161st time in their histories with the Bruins having an 83-52-21-4 record and 549-467 scoring edge in those games.

The Bruins are 44-22-11-2 in their 79 home games of this lifetime series with a 283-214 scoring advantage in those contests.

The Bruins have won the last 5 games between these teams, with their last loss to the Islanders a 3-2 setback in Boston on Oct. 23, 2014, and they are 15-5-1 in the last 21 games overall of this lifetime series … They have won their last 2 games vs. New York in
Boston and they are 12-5-0 in their last 17 vs. the Islanders on home ice.

Fun Fact: The Islanders have never shut out the Bruins in Boston with all 3 of their lifetime shutouts taking place on Long Island and there has not been a shsutout in Boston between these teams since a 3-0 Bruins home win on Oct. 12, 1998 (Byron Dafoe).

I feel nervous about this game...Isles on a huge losing streak just like the Avs. I prefer facing teams on win streaks...

Let's Go Bruins! :handclap::handclap::handclap::handclap::handclap:

Man were those carols painful

People near the bench in the crowd wanted no part of an interaction with Rene

Nice to see Seids playing well for them, as long as he doesn't against us. Always liked him, but his time was clearly up here.

Schedule sets up to the Bruins advantage through to the end of the year. Opportunity to bank some much needed points. Word is they are at a premium.:)
Help yourselves boys and take full advantage of the situation. Playing down to your opponent can have disasterous consequences for you down the road. Get those Montreal, Pittsburg type game faces on and get after it!

Welcome back Frankie V! You have been missed. Best of luck for the balance of the season.

Let's Go Bruins!

It seems every year I get the Renemas game, so I get to hear the Croaking of the Carols in person. Sure it's bad, but the guy is a legend, and he used to have a really great voice. Tradition is tradition, and at least ours are organic, not some well rehearsed computerized stage show like the Habs. We just stick an old guy on the bench belting out Christmas songs, and I personally love it, even if my ears do not.

I see Jimmy has finally earned the "big boy" font in the approaching milestones:laugh:

He earned it

They haven't given away any ornaments (or anything) this year, right? They've really clamped down on their giveaways....unlike the Bruins themselves. *ba-doom-doom-CHA*

Points are indeed at a premium. If we win the next two games, I can stop hyperventilating, because we'll only be one point off of a healthy 98 point pace. I feel like we've played easier teams than average, so the remaining games should be hard, but I don't have the stats to back that up. Unfortunately, it's not that inspiring to have basically the same record as Arizona at home.

Remember, boys: Optional skate at 10:30. The skate at 7 is NOT optional.

Hoping for 3+ goals for the good guys

Islanders are skating at TD Garden today while the Bruins skated in Brighton.

Wouldn't it make more sense for the Bruins to skate at TD on gamedays when they can and have the room all set up and ready to go?
