If we lose this one I won't know what to think.

My guess is that we crush them. Our play has been off lately but it's been a tough string of opponents. Having a softer target should result in us running up the score

Have to give credit to Grier. What once looked like a rebuild in slow motion compared the likes of Arizona and Montreal now looks to be well on its way now. Good drafting and some smart trades have allowed them to take a step this year, ahead of schedule. Still a ways to go though.

Guerin also doing a good job in Minnie. And Staois might have the Sens on the right track finally.

All these former Oilers becoming GMs is interesting. Makes me wonder if they daydreamed about trades and signings when they played for the Oilers, who were always starved for trades and signings.

It all bodes well for General Manager Ryan Nugent Hopkins in 2035.
If grier, guerin or staois waa GM of the oilers, the default response on this board is "old boys club" again.

Had we stuck with old boys club, we would not have dumped 2 picks for griffin reinhart. Signing that fat Lucic contract would never had happened. Those 2 moves set us back so bad.

True. We'd call it OBC 2.0, but cooler heads would prevail and realize it's not really the same thing.. I think.

And yeh Chia sucked balls.

Lines posted for today?

I’m headed to the outdoor rink on this beautiful day to meet some friends for a game of shinny and then off to a pub to watch the game.
What a great day for hockey!
Great winter day to be alive. Sun shining, nice temperature. Crisp clean air. enjoy.

Remember game is early start today. Afternoon game.

Count me as another that loves Guerin and Grier. Would love to be around any org with these guys running things. hard workers, go to the wall, very decent people, you know things are going to be run right with these people and that anything they ask of players they did in spades. What a great time it was having these players here. Staios too.

All 3 were great soldiers for us. Too bad we couldn't keep Billy G longer.

All we have to do is not mismanage the puck high in their zone that create odd man breaks and we’ll win. Just don’t give up rushes.

Sounds easy, but we have not been managing the puck well high in the o zone at all lately.

Oilers should win handily today. Anything less than controlling the game to a solid win means there is still work to do maturity wise. Hopefully they don’t play down to the competition.

Ceci with a goal because Oilers law.
I think you havent seen the sharks this year and will be disappointed today. They are not the joke they were last year and expecting a controlling game is a little much. A win is a win is a win.

A contender who just bested 4 of 5 other contenders should control the majority of the game.

I’ll be at work unable to watch so I’ll have to clench vicariously through HFOil

I don't think Bouchard and Nurse will mesh. I'm curious how Emberson looks with Ekholm
Yup. I’m not sure Nurse is comfortable enough in his own game to be babysitting Bouchard at this point. I’d have that duo on a short leash. Zero sense in allowing that experiment be the cause of losing a near certain win.

Then again, Paul Coffey knows more about defense than I will ever…

I especially agree with the last part. Also this is a perfect opponent to try things with, and it's a good idea to try things. Also just because it didn't work before doesn't mean it won't work this time
