This team is not as good as last year's. I understand that. Their morale is bad, and they don't seem to be able to get their mojo back. Who's most at fault there I dunno.

What I do know is that this team's "puck luck" is absolutely symbolized by that puck that bounced up and over the back of the goal and lay perfectly flat on the goalie's back. They've gotten almost ZERO breaks this season.

Can someone please talk me off the edge? I feel like there’s absolutely nothing to be excited about with this team. Even if we tank….there’s still nothing. Look at Montreal: You can see that they have tons of talent in the pipe and the future looks bright. Then there’s us. Kasper looks meh, Danielson is underperforming, MBN is invisible now. We have ASP and that’s it. Dark dark times.

before season was optimistic and still am tbh (bc drafting been a solid B or B+) a!bout wings future but feels like ho-hum ufa signings caught up with team.

this season prolly cooked but things could b worse with some rash trade that backfires.

sad truth is just keeping walman, not having having tank (no disrespect just not working here), not signing gustafsson, not re-signing kane (easy to say in retrospect) and team would surely b better and have some cap to manuveur with.

Everyone is bad, but Lagesson has had an extra rough game in particular

Like just trade Johansson or waive him. What's the point of sitting him when we're supposed to be trying to see what he is at the NHL level?

hope they reaccess pro scouting ufa/trade strategy. better to have 1 solid youngish piece (esp on D) than a bunch of vintage has-beens or fringe nhlers. (no offense to tank, pk, gustaffson).

Of all the staggering things to come out of this season, to me scratching Johansson and recalling Lagesson ranks at #1. Like what?? Call up any of Viro, Wallinder, Tuomisto if you need another D. This is the most anti-kids rebuild I have ever seen.

Just play Johnasson. Ultimately I don’t think he makes it but he flashes some skill from time to time, just play him, is the alternative that much better?

Yeah, that's the main issue, there is no guarantee that even in 2-3 years the team will be good because there's a real question mark about how much offense Kasper/Danielson can produce. And Larkin will be 30.

Danielson started slow but he’s looked better in the last 15 games in GR.

At the start of the 2026 season:

You'll have:

A Top pairing of a 6'6 Swedish LHD and 6'5 German RHD - who already this season have peformed as a top 12 pairing, who complement one another, and will be the face of the defense for the next 10 years.

You will have a RHD on the 2nd Pair, and as the Top off-hand shot or point PP Specialist, who will be 21 years old and maybe the best offensive PMD since Hughes and Dahlin - in that tier

You will have a 24yo 6'7 Hyper Athletic Goalie, and potentially a 22yo technician splitting the crease in what could be a Ullmark/Swayman style 1A/1B

And you'll still have Debrincat - Larkin - Raymond - which is a pretty solid 1st line. You are just looking to round out the rest depth of the team with: Danielson, Kasper, MBN, Buchelnikov, probably a Top 5-8 pick this year (Misa?)

And lastly - Chiarot, Holl, Gus, Tarasenko, Kane will all be gone. Copp and Compher will be 4th line PKers a lockerroom guys.

If the season is deemed by Mgmt/coaching to be lost, why the heck are they not seeing through to the opportunity to call up young players drafted by the organization? Especially since the team's arguably top performing D went down to injury?

The Johansson management here is so mind numbing. He has shown enough flashes where you'd give him a chance for an extended amount of games. Play him and Holl for 16-17 mins/night for a while and see what you get

This revolving rotation of players on the bottom pair is crazy, especially since the bozo Gustafsson gets spoon fed opportunities like QB'ing PP2 when he does absolutely nothing positive with any of his minutes to begin with
