He’s always been a shitty coach who has benefited from good goaltending and the solid habits that predecessors instilled. Combined with the morale bump players get from seeing the previous tyrant gone, the team performs well, only to crash back to reality. Goaltending won’t save him this time.

Rangers need to buckle down and stay tight. Professional hockey players don't like getting spanked twice in a row. Three times is unfathomable. Plus it's an early game so the boys need to have legs right away. The Flyers won't be looking to goon it up so much as they will be determined to win. Hopefully the Rangers show up and Philly's goaltending doesn't.

Weren't they switching him to wing? That's kind of a signal to me that they just want him to fight, probably only if there's a really ugly game or couple games against one of these teams with this year's schedule. Getting through a game with five (effective) defensemen is hard, but eleven forwards isn't that big of a deal.

We should have the horses on this club to easily enough pull that off...if not...then we have a conditioning problem .

Tomorrow is going to be the first day in years that I scoreboard watch for playoff implications. It's a great feeling.

Boston has two more games than us against Buffalo, NJ and Flyers the rest of the way while having 3 total games in hand on us. So on top of the current deficit let’s say it would be a total of 7 points to make up in 24 games left. We play them twice to close the regular season. It will be difficult but not impossible the way the Rangers have been playing recently AND if they will be able to stay healthy.

Agree that Couturier, Giroux and Voracek will try and fix this. But there is only so much they can do. If their goaltending and defense are no shows.
