He bleeds Bleu Blanc Rouge. He's a guy who can stick around and play bottom 6. Obviously his next contract would be a much smaller salary cap hit.
sad but even if i agree he bleeds Habs, by the time our team will be contender, Habs will get better options. That's the game

For me, he retires a Hab no matter what. We'll see how management views him. He got screwed out of at least 1 cup with us because of Bergevin's baffunery

Some observations in the GDT:

1) Lane Hutson is special. He needs to work on his shot extremely hard over the next summer (to open up more options for himself and others) but his vision is ultra elite already, and he runs the powerplay like he’s been doing it his entire life. In a couple of years? Sky is the limit. He can pull people out of their seats like Subban, and run a powerplay like Markov. A big, right hand shot, elite defender that can play half the game should be a 1A/1B target for the immediate future.

2) Patrik Laine found whatever he had lost, and is the elite game breaker the Habs haven’t had for a few decades. When given time and space, he launches lasers that end up behind the goaltender. He doesn’t even need a screen, his shot is that hard and accurate, (and well set up by Mr Hutson) he can fire at will.

3) Jake Evans has arrived, and I’m happy to see it! He’s somehow managed to work hard away from the puck while developing a sneaky good offensive game. He’s become an elite penalty killer and deserves a lot of credit for everything he’s done. (I know he’s playing for a contract as well) If you’d have told me that he would have twice as many goals as Slaf by Christmas, I’d have said you were nuts.

4) If they had a decent second line center, this team would probably be close to sneaking into the playoffs. Picking up Carrier was a shrewd move, as he solidifies the pairings nicely. A steady right hand veteran was exactly what they needed and seems to have fit in seamlessly. Granted it’s only two games, and against a not great opponent, but I think this was a terrific pickup.

5) Alex Newhook, not having a single assist before Christmas, is something that makes me chuckle every time.

Unless the injury bug hammers them again, I just don’t see this team drafting top-10
They beat two of the worst teams 3 games in a row.

After Christmas they have a really long streak of playing competent teams, so the probability to stay in this area is very possibly.
