Probably why Habs will start Monty tonight. And if he's not bombarded, will probably play tomorrow, as well. Because they're an important two games against a direct rival that can determine spots in the standings, Habs don't trust Primeau. Because under normal circumstances, Primeau would get the road game tonight and Monty the home game tomorrow.

And I think if Monty does start both games, Cayden's days in Montreal are numbered. They probably already are. But these two games can pretty much confirm it.
Dobes is playing for Laval tonight, I wonder if he gets called up for the post Xmas road trip, and Primeau placed on waivers….

Dobes need to play lots of games to develop, not sit in the NHL to watch Monty play.
Habs have what 4-BTB in next 3-weeks? That allows HuGo to assess Dobes’ progress, rewards him by earning NHL $, and buys time to see where teams at if they decide to acquire a veteran backup for the stretch drive

It's more Savard who can't handle the minutes Guhle is playing anymore. Savard should be on the 3rd pairing and play sub 18 minutes these days.

I personally don't like the Hutson-Matheson pairing, but Hutson-Carrier is very...light and I don't want Guhle to go back to the right.
I guess it's Carrier's first game. So start him off on the bottom pair and see where he goes from there.

So far he sounds like a more experienced RD version of Jordan Harris, though maybe a little better.

4 weekends in a row starting today, so 4 weeks.

They did that with Mailloux and Roy and they now play like shit in Laval. Zero interest in making AHL money anymore.

I was listening to McGuire & Laval play by play guy O’Connor, they both said Mailloux’s stats are misleading, he’s been playing well while being asked to do more and Habs management are happy with his progress this year and both expected he’ll be called up shortly

O’Connor also said a week ago, HuGo have thrown in the towel on Barron and he’d be traded before Xmas…

I know that the Carrier trade lets us move Savard later but I'm looking forward to the overlap of having both in the lineup at once

Just the fact they can have two full time NHL'er vets who shoot right. Because if Barron wasn't in the line-up, which most nights he wasn't, Habs were running with 5 LDs, meaning two were on their off-sides. Now, only one will be.

I like the idea. Worst case scenario he gets sent down after the 3 weeks. He might be as bad as Primeau in the NHL, but he might not be. What do we lose?

If it's not due to calling up Dobes, it wouldn't surprise me if Primeau is waived at some point. I doubt anyone would claim him and if we can get a better backup in (regardless of age) might as well do it in the off chance Primeau regains his form in Laval. Primeau isn't getting any benefit sitting and then having his confidence further hurt when he plays one in every 3 weeks.

Only that we tried this with a guy named Primeau, and the results speak for themselves. Leave Dobes where he belongs for now, in the AHL. I'm pretty sure HuGo know exactly where the team's at, and yes, they should acquire a backup goalie to support Monty. As for the BTBs, at this point, go to war with the army you have.
