I haven't been able to watch the last few games.

But hasn't Xhekaj been good with Savard, and Guhle not at his best with Savard?

Why not go:
Hutson - Matheson
Guhle - Carrier
Xhekaj - Savard

And at forward, I would go:

Caufield - Suzuki - Slaf
Heineman - Evans - Laine
Gallagher - Dvo - Anderson
Dach - Newhook - Armia

If they can beat Detroit twice in regulation, we can move ahead of the Red Wings. And then it will depend what the Isles, Jackets, and Rangers do.

And that will keep Montreal more in the mix. If they lose these two games, even if they get loser points, it will be a lot more difficult for Habs to pick it up and make up any lost ground.

It's more Savard who can't handle the minutes Guhle is playing anymore. Savard should be on the 3rd pairing and play sub 18 minutes these days.

I personally don't like the Hutson-Matheson pairing, but Hutson-Carrier is very...light and I don't want Guhle to go back to the right.

Habs need to collect 5-of-6 pts over next 3GP

I find timing of Carrier acquisition interesting, suspect HuGo also view next 3GP as being important towards maintaining this seasons goals

Putting TOI aside, I love the pairings.

I think Savard’s injured but has been playing through it due to lack of options.

I'm of the opinion that our D pairings are always all over the place to begin with so it doesn't matter.
That's why Carrier being able to chew up more minutes than Barron could is huge for us.
If we can keep natural RD out there against the top lines it'll help.
Savard needs to be spelled particularly in B2B situations.

Probably why Habs will start Monty tonight. And if he's not bombarded, will probably play tomorrow, as well. Because they're an important two games against a direct rival that can determine spots in the standings, Habs don't trust Primeau. Because under normal circumstances, Primeau would get the road game tonight and Monty the home game tomorrow.

And I think if Monty does start both games, Cayden's days in Montreal are numbered. They probably already are. But these two games can pretty much confirm it.

Everyone knows that not dealing with the backup issue carefully might be the final nail in the coffin to the season. If they put Primeau in Montreal and he lays an egg, fans will be pissed.
