I was at grandkids Christmas concert, which was great, but caused me to miss the game live. Watched it in its entirety this morning. What a great win! Incredible! Wish I’d been able to celebrate with you guys when the OT winner went it. The hits keep coming - Minnesota next.

Huh? Maybe if you clarify this will make some sense to me.
Meaningful games by BA was just a fluff Statement. I believe the trade for Serg came from above him. I believe he's did very little for this team this year when they needed him. The success they are having is because of the Players especially Kels, Scmalzy, Cooley, Serg, Gunner and Bear.

BA should of done more to help with getting D support. Still like BA but lost some respect for him this year. Still believe if we miss the playoff he's a goner.

Talk is cheap, let's see how the team ends up this year. BA has been after Serg long before the move to SL. BA hired Bear, drafted Gunner, Cooley. BA had no idea who would get hurt, and besides that, he did get D support by trading for Serg, signed Marino, and Cole. I mean, what more could he possibly have done? Unless the team falls off the cliff like last year, I think BA's job is safe. Bear would be the one fired, but that would be a big stretch as well.

Like your arguments but I have a couple of questions: BA never said anything about Serg or even a trade beforehand. He never gave credit to our current team and kept saying we are going to build only through the draft. Even a commercial on SEG.

He tried to build a better defence, kudus to him for this. I like what he tried.

Where I am upset is after we lost 3 Dman he should of had more faith in the team, made a trade for a rental. Fowler was a great example. We need to teach these kids to win and it's happening!

hard to argue with winning, and I’m not familiar with the quality of Fowlers play, but my observation is that maatta and cole make a lot of iffy plays, turn the puck over, etc.

I'll admit, I haven't seen him much this season but this article from a STL contributor sums up what I'm commonly reading. At 33 years old he may be washed up. We'll see. He's only played 3 games for STL but hasn't gotten on the score sheet yet.

Blues Don't Move the Needle With Trade for Cam Fowler - The Hockey Writers St Louis Blues Latest News, Analysis & More

CliffsNotes:

"Has struggled... Just turned 33... Game has been going downhill... Puck-moving defenseman... Brutal defensively so far this season (has struggled defending the rush especially)... One of the most accurate stretch passes in the game... No physicality... Isn't worth shedding a second round pick for."

Puckpedia has Marino and Durzi listed Feb 22 and Maveric as Jan 8

Don't seem accurate though

The team announcement was at the end of October and said 4-6 months for Durzi and 3-4 months for Marino. So that does put Durzi at February best-case, not returning at all this season worst-case.

Also based on that announcement Marino's best-case is January, worst-case is February.

I haven't heard anything that says how their recoveries are coming or of any setbacks. Fingers crossed for best-case scenario for both players.

For those of you who watched the lab broadcast, how was it? Did they show tracking of stats that are beyond advanced counting (like zone entries with possession)?

I know Sportlogiq do a bunch of fun stats, but I'm curious if most of what they were willing to share was just stuff that could be tracked by hand if you had enough time, or if they were showing some machine learning model level stats. I'd guess that's their big proprietary data and wouldn't be shown (not that I know if they're even doing that).

Estimates based on their start date on IR.

Durzi is beginning to skate again.

Bear says Marino is way way off in the distance. (Personally I think he misses the entire season)

MavLam also skating but they aren’t going to risk long-term damage.

Ingram came out briefly this past week but went back off.

Not sure about Bortuzzo yet.

Also not sure why we are have a team discussion in a GDT thread either. Everyone is getting lost it seems.

It was weird. They tracked players going on and off the ice along the bottom of the screen (w/ TOI)…z Putting out a lot of things like shot speeds and skating speed. Guys on the set were reacting to the game play like any fan would.

Intermission they were breaking down plays from the previous period the entire break

For some people it might be a bit much trying to track the game as it’s happening but great for between period breakdowns.

Hockey nerds would probably love it.

Most of our scoring day in and day out , is Keller, Gunther, Cooley, Sergachev and Schmaltz…this is great, .. but really disappointed in the Crouse, Macelli, Bugstad line ..

I think lack of PP time caused a bit of lost confidence…last year each group stayed out a min… this year PP 1 hogs up all but about 15 seconds worth.

Maybe unrelated..but..just my take

BA mentioned that he had talked to the Tampa management and told them if they are ever wanting to trade Serg make sure they call him first, or something along those lines. BA picked up Bortuzzo as well for a stop gap. You have to understand that there can be a lot of juggling when injuries hit. Number of contracts, salary cap, length of contract etc. It's not as easy as snapping your fingers.

Forgot about Maata. Another good example.

After the all-star break it's going to start getting harder to score, and we will need that line to start pulling their weight. Not sure what the hell is going on with that line as it was many games last year our best line.

For those whining about the current defense remember, only 5 teams in the West have allowed less goals and the goals against has been getting better.
I give credit to goaltending and overall team defense.
That's part of the problem, needing the forwards to help with the overall team defense. It takes away from the offense, to a degree.
