So over coffee last night I mentioned to a friend about how dry Winnipeg was and how you could go through a bottle of Aveeno every day there. The air is far more moist here and it's worth getting a little extra snow if it stops your skin from cracking constantly.

Just opened my laptop now and found this:

11:21 AM EST Thursday 12 December 2024

Hazardous lake effect snow squalls expected through Friday.
Locally heavy snowfall with accumulations of 40 to 80 cm through Friday
Peak snowfall rates of 5 to 10 cm per hour.Very poor visibility at times in heavy snow and local blowing snow.
Lake effect snow squalls off Lake Huron and Georgian Bay have developed in the wake of a strong cold front. Strong westerly winds gusting up to 70 km/h will accompany the snow squalls, resulting in blowing snow and significantly reduced visibility. Travel under the heaviest snow squalls is expected to be difficult to nearly impossible at times.

Everybody here is abuzz about the possibility of a snow day tomorrow. Okay, so it kills all the chatter about Nylander going on waivers, but tomorrow is the last day of classes.... Sigh. And grades still need to be in by Wednesday. Sigh.

I've never really understood Winnipeg's hatred for the Knights but I'm happy to cheer the Jets to victory tonight. Assuming I make it back to my apartment... Sigh.

I just wanted to apologize to @flin flon bombers here, as I couldn't in the PGT that was closed.

I was insensitive to make fun of your writing. I would hate to think that I discouraged someone from posting here - hope you will accept my apology.

why is everybody advocating making sweet sweet love to Vegas???

There are some places where you definitely never ever want sand.

Yes, of course, I'm referring to skate blades.

Super dry in the winter and super humid in the summer. We are lucky here in the Peg we get to experience everything. Probably one of the few places in the world that can be -40c in the winter and 40c in the summer.

How come no one is talking about Jets prospect Kieron Walton 6'6" 211 lbs ... 4th in points OHL?

he's been talked about constantly over in the prospects thread but yeah his jump in production this past couple months and especially compared to last year is kinda insane.

We have a lot of really great prospects right now. I'd put us in top 8 at least in terms of pipeline quality.

Vegas plays a super aggressive forecheck... like overwhelming teams with numbers in their own zone. Key is the same as the Boston game - clog up the blue line to give our D time and get a goal early to ease the pressure.

Keys I'd say are
1. Scheif needs beast mode for at least the first period
2. Pionk can't cough up the puck early or he will collapse
3. Dont get into penalty trouble - Stan...

Vegas is Boston with more speed and more scoring...
Boston sucks. Vegas is a good team, most Manitobans of any team. Defense is one of if not the best in the West. Move the puck well that's the key. And stay out of the box as you said.
