NHL has made its rule book so complex that it comes out with erratic, subjective refereeing standards that are all over the play... game to game but more scary is within a game itself. The whole kicked in vs good goal is an exercise in NHL Magic Eight Ball random decision making.

I don't get into the weeds with refereeing bashing or conspiracy stuff. But honestly the ref can't call an extra two minutes on that Nurse call. Incredibly soft that influences the play in a tightly contested game.

This is just plain dumb. Debrusk calls things as is and it's outstanding how many ppl can't differentiate between common sense and facts vs just wanting to hear tge team getting stroked off no matter what
I disagree. I don't want an Boston or Avalanche type of broadcast team. They are the dumb type of fanboys.

Bob will give the Oilers shit. He gets mad at the team when they are doing things wrong and repeating the same mistakes over and over.

Saved my bacon and didn't go to this game. Refs will always suck.

Did you see Bouchard hold onto the puck behind the net and slooooowly skate up the ice with about 40-20 seconds left in the game? What a f***ing braindead idiot he was for that and probably gets flashbacks to it daily.
What did you think about the quick play bouchard made that lead to the Oilers goal.

I can’t remember an unsportsmanlike ever, ever getting called this early in a game.

For refs that aren’t afflicted by narcissistic little man syndrome, usually it takes sustained chirping and a warning before they call it. When you’re Kelly Sutherland you have to try hard to be the big man though.

Whatever Nurse said to him better have been really bad. It wasn’t though.

Games against the VGK are pre-determined to be 'let them play' affairs. Yet in this game a player beaking a ref, a play that happens several handfuls of times a game, is enough for a tack-on for a double minor.

I guess it's only an official kick if he winds up with his foot above his head and soccer kicks it in backwards into the net.

f*** Gary... f*** these bullshit sunbelt favourites... f*** these paid for refs.

Like.. he lifts and thrusts his skate blade forwards in the crease.

Does that not violate the entire Spirit of the rule? If you're allowed to put the knives on your feet where the goaltender wants to put his hand while your foot is literally in the crease...

Why the f*** can't you kick the puck in the net in the first place?

Is that not why you can't kick the puck in the net? So you aren't putting the knives on your feet where the goaltender wants to put his hand?

If this was not a kick, I don't know what is

I believe the nuance is that the kicking motion is over just as the puck hits the skate. At that point onward the skate is moving away from the goalie. They changed the rule a while back to allow more of these goals.

As someone else said though, just watch this exact goal get called back next week lol.

I was roommates with a guy in University that use to live near where Sutherland et al use to live.

Apparently he was not a fan of kids playing in his neighborhood and used the n-word when trying to disperse the crowd. This was like 1990 something though.

No evidence otherwise though but I do take my buddy at his word.
Would be interesting to see his calls against Kane, Reeves etc in the past. If there’s a pattern, I’m buying your buddy’s word.

His reaction to Nurse looked ridiculously over the top.

Islands in the stream.
I turned off the intermission.

I applaud anybody who kept the game 7 on. I shut it off with 1 second left. Have never seen 10 seconds of the FLA celebration
Yeah, I could do without the replays of the SC winning goal being a routine rush and Skinner just completely botching it being the cup winning goal. sigh, double sigh. FF and we still have the same guy in net. Been a cold hard reminder of what shoudn't be.

I'm watching the Florida broadcast which is arguably better than the Prime telecast and intermission. Changed the channel as it were. f*** prime. I'm not even gonna stream you. haha

Ambiguity is the point when it comes to the NHL’s rulebook.

Who knows what Nurse said but it does seem odd to call an unsportsmanlike for a double minor barely half way through the first period in a tightly contested game.
