Watched the game with a few buddies who aren't fans. Both really were into it, but I think one of them was experiencing some side effects from the "herbal medicine", so it was just something to stare at intently, but the other one was asking all about the rules (offsides, icing, etc.), team history, why I hate the Pens so much, and was almost as excited as I was when the CBJ began to pile on in the third. So I think I've brought at least one more onto the bandwagon.
Once they left I rewatched the condensed replay and enjoyed watching it even more being able to focus on individual performances and not worry about the outcome.
While he didn't show up on the scoresheet, Matty Calvert had a GREAT game. A bunch of shots and used his speed very well. He's so underrated/unknown, but I'd say he's one of the best bottom 6 players in the league, and has a TON of heart as do most of the guys on this squad. Really aside from the first period there were no bad performances from anyone.
My favorite part of watching the replay was noticing Dubi on the bench after Boone scored the 6th goal. It was a very clear, "Let's f*****n' pour it on boys!" (I will try to find a gif)
They may have downplayed it to the media but its clear that the Jackets hate that team, and honestly I don't think Pitt was ready for that kind of intensity in a December game. And I don't blame them because as reigning champions they don't need to prove anything to the Jackets. I'm sure that changes in the next meeting.
