Nikita Kucherov, a hockey player supreme
Laughed at the Montreal Canadiens fans, it seems
His team, the Tampa Bay Lightning, took the cup
Leaving the Canadiens in a state of disgust

But tonight, the Canadiens aim to bounce back
Their tough guy, "The Sheriff," ready to attack
He'll protect their honor and make a stand
Against the Lightning, with fists at hand

The Canadiens fans hope for a victory
But no matter the outcome, it's just a game, you see
May the best team win, with sportsmanship in tow
And the players give it their all, blow for blow

Matheson has 6 pts in 9 games quietly lol
It's not that he's a huge problem, the problem is when you have both Matheson and Edmundson in the line up, it just doesn't work

Curious to see that 2nd line tho wow
How many opponent points has Matheson been a major contributor to in those same games?

Once he's fully fit and game sharp, we could do worse than give him the same partner for a long stretch of games so they can form a proper pair and work as such when Matheson gets targetted by the forecheck.

It's "fun" stats time!

Of all the forward in the NHL who played at least 15 games and average TOI is between 13 and 15:30 minutes (93 total). Here how the Habs players rank in PGP:
32nd Mike Hoffman, 0.45PGP, 14:27m
56th Brendan Gallagher, 0.36PGP, 14:21m
62nd Josh Anderson, 0.36PGP, 15:28m
83rd Evgenii Dadonov, 0.23PGP, 13:59m
90th Jake Evans, 0.17PGP, 14:25m
93rd Joel Armia, 0.11PGP, 14:58m <--- Dead last

4 out of 6 managed to land in the bottom third of the league relative to their peers.

Anaheim and Montreal are the only team left without a shorty this season.
Montreal is leading the NHL for giveaways with 341.

Insteresting stats here...
Habs are 7th in the NHL for Goals against in the 1st period with 20.
Habs are 25th in the NHL for the 2nd period with 38
And they are 31st in the 3rd period with 45

But some positive, they are 12th in the NHL for Faceoffs with 51.0%....

Habs coming off their second consecutive loss and adding to a wider losing record involving retro reverse jerseys. Several have claimed that the retro reverse jersey is cursed and some have even suggested that it ought to be burned.

They finally managed to snap a 0 for 23 PP drought from the 6-games prior to Ducks game. Caufield scored two, including a PP goal. He had also scored in the prior game where the retro reverse was worn, so he's immune to any of its ill effects.

Slaf barely saw any playing time in the 3rd period of the Ducks game. I wonder what happened there.

As Slaf is trying to make his mark, he leaves no one indifferent. Some are not quick to judge while others, are not as patient.

One poster claimed that Slaf emitted "Balki vibes" from Perfect Strangers ...

However, turns out that Slaf occupies a much larger role:

We found out when he issued his first diagnostic on Caufield's health, following a shot the latter had taken to the head, causing him to leave the game.

The last time the Habs saw a player (ex-player by then) act as a physician, he was none too kind and his assessments were purely based on spite.

Slaf certainly has an uphill battle, given how several Habs fans continue to believe that the Habs are unable to select a worthy player whenever they have an early first rounder in their drafts, despite a totally different management contingent at the helm. The last guy to be drafted early is still being brought up in not so flattering terms.

On the good news front, we have learned that Moneyhands has ditched his walking boot. Hopefully that means a relatively short timespan before he returns to the lineup, although you never quite know how durable Monahan might be given the challenges he's had to face in the last 4 years.

One thing is certain -- when Moneyhands is out of the lineup, you can immediately notice it. Not to mention the headache it causes to the head coach who has to scramble to replace him.

With the erratic play and lack of effort by some of his players, we have seen Marty lose patience time and again.

Hopefully, he won't let it get to him too much -- it's supposed to be a development year. Just focus on the process, there will be better days.

I respect the Perfect Strangers meme, and
Balki Bartokomous

I'm expecting a Habs loss tonight which usually means they'll pull off a win or get at least a stupid f'ing loser point. A 7-6 TB regulation win with the young Habs getting a few goals and points who be just fine by me.

Oilers outshoot the Ducks 49-17 and lose 4-3.

They could really use a big stay at home defensive defenseman who can PK like say an Edmundson. You know you really really should trade your 2023 1st for him right Holland. :D
