I always thought kari would have had an incredible career had he not been drafted by atl. Kovy and dany carved their place but it has to be easier to look good as a skater on a bad team then a goal keeper. Rushing him had to have had a hand in the injury troubles early on.

Did Atlanta ever develop a a defender with a solid career?

The only time the Kings were screaning with any integrity was on the PP. Of course there were a few exceptions but both teams are not screening the goalie much at all.
