I'd like for Holland to get more looks at center, but with the clock ticking on Rakell, I have no problem favoring him at center in the short term.

With a shortened season and no preseason, I think you take what you can get. It's definitely not ideal for Holland, but it would be NHL experience, and I think he and Rakell make that line better. Who knows? If one of them plays well enough, they could potentially work their way up the line-up.

Classy move by Getz with the message to the fans tonight & calling Vancouver into it as well. :handclap:

Perry REALLY lost his **** tonight! :laugh:

Redemption for what you guys did to us during our home opener, seems like you guys always beat us in Van & we get you in Ana. Nice to see the Pond sold out tonight as well. :nod:

Agreed on everything except maybe Morrison (Weight was so so here too). That experiment was brutal lol. I'm a big Bonino fan in a 3C or 4C role, where he should be playing on a competitive team.

Over reaction on my part. Didn't even really think about how bad they were. Just that it's a downgrade from Koivu right now.

I don't get why we don't try him at wing. He's done it before. When we drafted him he was listed as a winger wasn't he? Can't be as bad as Smith Pelly right now. Send him back to the AHL to wake him the hell up.

And DSP for Etem? :)

I'd put one of Rakell or Holland in his spot first, but yeah... If Etem continues to progress in the AHL he could deserve a look. Maroon seems a stretch, given his waiver status.

Just came back from the game:

Getzlaf = played well
Corey Perry = played like crap
Palmieri = slightly above avg
Teemu = avg/slightly below
Bobby Ryan = crap
Defense as a whole = utter crap
Sbisa = I dont know why people were ever high on this guy...most inconsistent player
Fowler = below avg...showed some nice flashes but also some boneheaded moves
Hiller = w.e
Koivu = awesome...he was always trying to set guys up

I blame defense for this game. Unable to set a consistent tone throughout the game allowed the Canucks to take over.

Fowler was below average?

Lol Fowler was one of the only good things about this game.

Not even fair that he ended up with a minus. That goal was totally on DSP and Hiller.

What's the point of moving him to wing? He isn't here to be a depth player. He's here to try out, and it's clear what position our team wants him to try out for. Holland hasn't done anything to push him out of the center spot, yet. We have replacements for Devo down in Norfolk that aren't limited by what the CBA rules dictate.

Seriously, you need to calm your fans. Went on to your site to congratulate your people only to be told I need to have YouTube evidence of Sedin's dive during tonight's game.

Seriously????

yea a lot of them are like that, we really don't like them either. plus you shouldn't go onto the other teams page and talk about diving... every team does it

good luck for the rest of the season :) would love to see Nucks vs Ducks in the WCF

I don't see a problem with giving him a cup of coffee.

Just saw the highlights of the Beleskey fight. Dude can throw some punches. Totally got Vols on that fight. He must of landed atleast 4 facial punches.

I'm just saying it couldn't hurt to try.

And what could Holland have done? I thought he did fine with what he was given. Beleskey was playing like a hot head. DSP was playing like he was dreaming about dinner. And on top of that the constant penalties short-shifted him and cut any chance of piecing together any sort of individual momentum. This game was not a good one to make a debut in and try to make a good impression. He wasn't good but he wasn't bad either and I appreciated how well he stayed on his skates when the Canucks brought it to him physically.

The same thing could have been said for Rakell's games with the same wingers, yet the results were better.

Etem? No, I agree. If DSP craps the bed, I think it opens up an opportunity for Etem. I'd still probably give Rakell or Holland first crack at it, but we still don't know if Rakell will even be here beyond 5 games. If he's sent down, then there is obviously a spot available to whomever can earn it. Unless Boudreau wants to dress an enforcer every game, which I doubt.

No, not really. Especially ....nevermind my better half says not to call out an ******* for being himself. No wonder he's on ignore in this household. Rum and A&W here I come....

Which was one of the things I liked about Rakell. Like you said, he asserted himself, and it was really all him. Holland wasn't able to do the same tonight, but I'm hoping he just needs to get more comfortable with the NHL game.

In games where things were going the Ducks' way. It's not a fair comparison when Holland was being stifled all game.

Agree with you, DJ. Holland barely got on the ice for two consecutive shifts in a row. Hope to see him and Rakell in the lineup together tomorrow.

When's the earliest you see an Etem call up Soj?

no need for him to be called up imo. its not our wingers that are the problem.
we can easily slot in someone on 4RW if DSP is sent down. maybe slot in holland and rakell on that 4th line or actually have some toughness in staubitz/other crazy name dude

Oh man, I have no idea. If I had to guess, I think it would be if/when Rakell gets sent down. With him and Holland both on the roster, I think Boudreau would be more inclined to go with them. If Rakell is sent down, however, then I could see Etem getting a look soon after.

If Rakell sticks around, Etem would probably get his first look when there is an injury, or a little further into the season if he just looks real good in the AHL.

This is just me pulling this out of my ass though.
