Petterson forgot how to skat this season. I don't know what it is about these Saturday night games against the Leafs but Sid always seems to have sub par games.

We might have recency bias because Hayes just scored, but it's games like this where id love to see young guys trying to battle back in the bottom 6.

This team just isn't all that talented offensively. Sid and Geno can still bring it (though Sid was bad tonight) but the wingers in the top six pretty much are all varying levels of stink.

The bottom six looks better than it was last year but I still don't think there's going to be a whole lot of offense coming from them.

And the goaltending....Blomqvist looks solid so far but he's young and will probably get sent down when Ned comes back. TJ is TJ.

PP looks better I guess?

No way should the pens have benched jesse puljujärvi. Glass could have sat or the rookie. That made no sense. You need one big man to play with Crosby of rust is playing with him.... sigh. Less Letang more Karlsson

I like the Pens playing the long game. Eventually these Pettersson/Gryz 60 foot slappers will put holes in goalies chests and the goals will pile up.

3 games in you kinda have the blueprint for this season
Against elite teams - no chance
Teams lacking in defensive structure and goaltending - we might be able to score a little and win
Playoff teams - we might be able to battle, but will make more mistakes than them and lose more often than we win

  • Blomqvist was good for most of this game, hard to fault him for the game at all.
  • Defense was absolute ass yet again and this time they couldn't score to bail out how bad they were.
  • So many collapses in their own end, odd man rushes, allowing the Leafs to set up and keep up pressure which hemmed in the Pens lines for a long time.
  • This easily could have been 5-1 for the Leafs.
  • The Penguins got super lucky calls for this game and still couldn't capitalize on it at all, Leafs got absolutely jobbed by the Refs and the Pens had chances to win this and couldn't do it, impotent twats.
  • Sid and that zero awareness play is just not what you want to see from your leader while the team is down and needing a goal, this team tries to be so cute with the puck when it doesn't need to be nor should it be.
  • Rutger - Send the lad down, the usage he's getting isn't really developing him for anything and is pointless to do, he deserves better minutes in WBS to gain confidence and get BETTER.
  • Rust getting gifted usage that he doesn't deserve, par for the course.
  • Weird to say but Graves and St Ivany were solid as a duo for a 2nd game.
  • Coach refusing to adjust to the team is just par for the course as well, expected and even then, still shockingly frustrating to see.

Graves and St. Ivany have played well the last two games. Rutger should be sent down to the baby pens.

Pretty much though I think the Pens could have gotten a point out of this one.

Fortunately for the Pens there's a lot more non elite teams than elite ones so if they can be competitive in those they have a chance I suppose.

Make an argument... RUST and RAKELL............OVERPAID. Put Rust on the 3rd line and put JP with Sid and see what happens. But that would never happen with Sullivan. Those two crap top Wings can go weeks without scoring and Sullivan will wax poetically about both, nearly crying while offering his support.
