Not much to say other than Rask was unbelievable tonight. Can’t do much when a goalie is locked in like that. Just go win game 4 and who knows from there. Obviously very unlikely to win 4 in a row with needing 2 in Boston but crazier things have happened.

I mean, it's happened to them before.

At this point just don't get swept.

I'm glad I finally made it out to a playoff game this run. Sure was great hearing PNC rocking again.

If the series ends Thursday I believe the best way to to sum up the losses were honestly a lack of execution. Just couldn't complete simple passes and also passing too much. I'm proud of the effort from our Jerks and I surely hope this isn't the end.

They played better in the 3rd. The effort was good overall. Can't really complain. Boston is a great team, but Carolina caught at the worst possible time.

It will be interesting to see if Rask maintains this in the Finals. He's getting all of the bounces right now.

Anyone who thinks the Canes had bad quality shots tonight is just wrong. They had an xG of 4.49 (most of this coming on the PPs) Rask was the only reason Boston won this game. Sometimes you’re going to outplay your opponent and lose.

Well, Bruins are the deepest team in the league. They beat us being perfect ot special teams and getting production from depth players. And Rask. Not surprise.

Our shots are making him look legendary this series.

Much like our streak of playing “hot” goalies in the season.
BS....we had plenty of quality tonight and he stood on his head... it happens but to downplay how well he’s playing is silly... is this when the I told ya so group gets to make their mark?

Hoping he pulls the MAF from last year. Play like a God until the cup finals and then shit the bed.

Roddy did say that all he wanted, win or lose, was to be able to say "we played our game" tonight. Like it or not, that was quintessential Hurricanes hockey.

We're at least a year ahead of schedule with this group. I'm OK with the PP struggling. Rod had his work cut out just to get us to the playoffs. And we won two rounds on sheer force of will. I know we're talented, but we still need more. We need a true PP quarterback -- maybe Bean? -- and another shooter up front. And it would be nice not to have to play .710 hockey the second half of the season to make the playoffs on the last Thursday of the season. Maybe we won't be completely gassed at this point next season.

Rask made some great saves including deflections.
Give credit when credit is due!
Boston is a good team.

Nope. Pucks going into his chest. No elevation on pucks down low. Everything going towards the middle of the goal. Aho’s chance with Rask moving across, Aho put the puck in the middle of the net. It hit Rask in collarbone. Put it in the near corner on Rask’s blocker side = a goal. Just one example.

If I'm Dundon, I'm scheduling a lengthy meeting right now to discuss this bull**** PP situation. It is unacceptable. It is embarrassing. It has to be corrected.
I was already dead certain in the first period that with all of the powerplays we got and didn't score on, that if we lost, it would be because our powerplay is a fu**ing joke yet again. It truly is pathetic and embarrassing.

They have got to go out and find an assistant coach, a coordinator, somebody somewhere to fix these special teams. The PK might be able to slide but the PP needs to be completely bulldozed and rebuilt

It's the personnel. Neither Faulk nor Hamilton nor Aho nor Teravainen nor Svechnikov (at this point) are first options on the PP. This team lacks both a PPQB and a dynamic shot to open up the ice.

Gassed or not we don’t have the roster to win it all. The biggest mistake we can take from this season moving forward is to think we’re really close. They need to keep building this team. Other teams have made the mistake of believing early success in their rebuild/reshuffle meant the rebuild is over. It doesn’t work that way. It’s a process and I hope they don’t cling too tightly to this team. On paper we don’t belong, and the good feels we had this season won’t always be here. We need a better team.

xGs don't factor the quality of the actual shot. They factor the location of the players and the puck on the ice, the ability to get off the shot, and the rate of goals scored from similar distances/angles. In other words, if you were to take 100 shots from 20 feet in front of the net in the slot, you'd probably have an xG of about 50. But if you drill all 100 shots directly into the goalie's crest, you're not going to score any goals.

Rask is a big mobile goalie who's playing very well.
Guys had plenty of good scoring opportunities to score tonight.

Good game tonight....their goalie stole one...I hate the bruins but they are a tough team.... we’ve had all year to figure out our pp and it’s killing us... too much talent for it to be that ****ty for so long but it’s going to cost us a shot at the finals... still very happy for the season we’ve had.... 1 game at a time, ya never know... go canes
This series made it very clear that would be the case. I guess it was only a matter of time before our powerplay (or powerlessplay) sunk our chances of any further success.

You are right about how long it has been bad. Also, wtf have they been doing this whole time with not improving it?

Pheeewwww.

I'll come up with some ludicrous "everything's sunshine and rainbows and the power of friendship wins in the end" spiel for tomorrow. But tonight....i'm going to eat some comfort food and curl up into a ball.

LOL. In all seriousness, i'm gonna enjoy watching playoff hockey until it's over. if this series doesn't make it til monday--which is frankly, like 98 percent certain--at least i'll get my 100 bucks back.

Man...just tough, just real tough.

Bruins with 5 PP goals in 3 games this series. Canes with 5 goals. That’s the series right there.
What makes it worse is that our PK has usually been consistently good, but with the PK being trash this series, it couldn't compensate for our historically bad powerplay.

Haha it’s clear every time we trot Faulk out and pass around the perimeter to get faulks booming shot off into the dmans legs over and over and over and over....we have Ferland and Svech and they are no where near thefront of the net... thatsjust stuborn coaching trying hard to make his system work on a group of players who obviously don’t share the same vision... hasn’t worked all year so let’s keep trying the same f***ing thing
