Several posters were dialing up the Drai is gonna be overpaid thing again, not worth his contract etc earlier in season. Drai in games like this is making an MVP argument. He's different than Drai as mentioned and when healthy is just destroying D, just overpowering them Lindros style.
I mean, you also said he might have hit the wall through all the tough years and miles and his best days were behind him

There was TONS of people doubting our big German balls leader. Guys an absolute weapon. Still a stud and will be for many, many years.

Gotta love a player who gets better after securing the contract.

It's almost getting that done and settled freed him a bit.

Not that he was bad last year, but this is next level

I legitimately think there are some refs who bet on games through others. Over under, etc.

Or they get straight up instructions before the game as to how they want it called

They can't just call the stuff everybody sees. Not every single thing, but blatant stuff is just ignored.
I don't believe it's corrupt but definitely scripted for parity and game mgmt. It's gross, I hate it.

Yep. Mostly due to I didn't know if would still be healthy. He'd had these nagging injuries hampering him for seemingly a year and a half. Was wondering if it was gonna go away. Pretty clear he's feeling 100% and healthy. I didn't think he had another 50G season in him this season but proving everybody wrong. Still, I figured he'd be around 40-110pts this season.

This is the best regular season Drai we've seen since his Hart season. He's been great for us.

I think part of it might be that he’s completely healthy too.

I don’t think it was a secret that he was playing through injuries for the last few years.

Considering little offseason due to the SC run its just incredible what his work rate is in that he plays the strong hard physical game bulling pucks all the time. Don't know how he does it. Is he turning into another Ovechkin in longevity too. Most players start to decline. What a horse. I think even the Minny crowd were giving some respect. Hard not to like the player. mention as well that he drew two penalties and with the Hartman pulling off helmet should've been three, one period.

Here’s the TSN video they need to make:

“Will Mathews dainty wrists ever last a full season again?”

Tongue-in-cheek aside, this is actually a bigger concern out here in Leaf land than anyone wants to mention.

Matthews doesn’t even play a physical game. Draisaitl takes and gives significantly more contact than nostril man and yet the guy has missed a total of NINE games since 2016.

Guy is built like a brick shit house. He's back to being a bull on his skates again. Maybe the ankle is finally healthy?

Looks stronger and faster this year. He's always had the skill and IQ. Need this version of Drai to stay healthy.
