The kids were playing well when noone else was, stop being so timid and let them play bigger minutes in a game like this.

He did?

It looked like they played every third shift in the second half of the game. Ended up with more minutes than any other line.

Gaudreau only played 14:48 in total, Laine 15:12, Jenner 15:42. That is a first. KJ was just behind them at 14:46.

IDK they didn't play much in the first but the last two periods it seemed like they were getting more shifts than any other line. Especially in the third period

Edit: Checked moneypuck and that line had the most 5on5 minutes
Without ever using money puck myself Im guessing its somewhat safe to assume numbers are skewed due to Laine and Gaudreau starting together

Unquestionably. I would absolutely prefer a win. But the team's issues are well known at this point and so it is prudent to make peace with that. Moral victories improve your development opportunities and your draft position.

...just don't go so far as to lean into it and derange oneself into thinking All Losses Are Good Losses or something. :)

If you don't look at lines and just look at 5v5 minutes for individuals, KJ and Marchenko played 5 seconds less than Gaudreau and 18 seconds more than Laine.

Winning the war , not the battle is more fun . Bottom 3 will benefit this franchise for the next decade . We saw Tarasov look very good, once again going against the best teams.. Marchenko almost has as many goals as Bjorkstrand and played 6 games . Berni seems like a keeper . Those are the victories we should root for this year . Playoffs are long gone …

For example .. anyone in Jersey would agree with this

Inexcusable. Lars is just terrible.
Always good when Olivier is within 9 seconds of Gaudreau in TOI.
Actually, 5 on 5 it was closer to 2 minutes difference. Considering we had one PP and three PK's, that is where the difference is. It was 13:50-12:02 at even strength in favor of Johnny. If we could draw more penalties, and stay out of the box, it might be different.

"We should definitely look long-term."

"Tim Berni looks like a keeper."

Thought this was one of our best defensive games and pretty good overall, but like Jody Shelley said, the offense just couldn't get anything going and the top line was shut down completely.
