Big game tonight.

Are we a step ahead of the sabres or is it time for us to continue falling deeply into the basement??

We can’t have so little depth at a key position like center such that an injury to one guy unstabilizes your top lines.

Which is why some teams aim for extra quality centers (not easy but it’s doable) and slot them as wingers. You can always have a center play wing but rarely vice versa.

that's probably why we should've kept drouin with us.

If you think about it the very same thing happened last season when Monahan went down. There was absolutely no rush to move Dach given how well he was producing up to and until then. My guess is the plan was to move him to center at TDL when Monahan got traded.

With Dvorak already down and Monahan no sure thing a long term injury to Dach or Suzuki was always going to be catastrophic. Our boat won't have a reinforced hull next season either. I haven't looked at the UFA's yet but we will need to trade for or sign one.

If you're thinking about middle-6 Cs, the options are pretty limited and likely to come at a premium given how few are available: Lindholm, Monahan, Novak, Roslovic, Stephenson, and Wennberg top the list.

I think it would be smart to target a young C that can grow in the role, Krebs or Holloway could be interesting. Finding a top-6 wing that can play C better than Newhook may be an avenue to explore (Reinhart, Nylander, Stamkos, Duchene).

Alternatively, and it's not what I'd call an upgrade, but if Dvorak can get back to .5ppg he'll likely be our best two-way option as 3C.

At this point I don't care about wins and losses. Don't get me wrong I always want to win but if they lose and the kids excel, I am GTG

I care less if I'm not watching and look at the boxscore later. If I turn the game on, then I can't help it, I want the win everytime.

Tha battle of the 7th round goalies tonight. Primeau vs. Levi.
It's going to be a barn burner.

Yeah.. I'm not watching that crap. Softer than microwaved butter.
That is such a sad lineup. I think I'll check if I can still get a ticket for my daughter's perforamnce. Will see it for the third time - still better than watching that lineup.

- How do you find the Buffalo wings?
- Great, they taste sooo good !!
- What ???!!! Are you some kind of cannibal?

Evans 2C ? Naah, I can't beleive it. That's a joke, ehh?
He's just there be be kicked out of the faceoff circle by the linesman so Monahan can take the draws, you can read it Evans-Monahan-Anderson if you prefer....

Habs off to Buffalo for a quick one-game trip, following a brutal game against the Kings on Thursday that resulted in a 4-0 loss.

How many of you watched it and felt like taking it out on your TV monitor?

Marty had no answer for the Kings' 1-3-1 formation.

Turns out Marty doesn't need answers, cause it's a process that is part of a concept within a concept and also because, what he says, goes.

As this site's server migration from earlier this week, did not go as smoothly as anticipated, resulting in a landscape of broken links for several images that have been part of this forum for many years and which are regularly used in our GDTs.

The situation is not completely resolved but site admins are hard at work to try and find solutions. In the meantime, let's soldier on with whatever we can muster.

Didn't get the chance to underscore the Power Horse's first goal of the season in the last GDT. So here are belated props for his getting back in the saddle, even if it was only an empty netter.

In other news, Jake Allen is skipping a start for the second game in a row. Optimus Primeau has been tabbed to start this one.

Jacques Alain not starting may or may not mean something, as rumors swirl about how Hughes is looking to put an end to the 3-goalie set up.

Let's hope the team turns its fortunes around for this one.

LINEUPS TBA

I nearly puked seeing Evans as the team's 2C. Don't know why it's so hard to play Ylonen-Monahan-Anderson as the 2nd line.

Ylonen is in purgatory. He’s always a bright spot whenever he’s on the ice and often tries things most players on the team don’t.

Other than 2 periods on a top 2 line, he didn’t get any opportunity to showcase himself. Such a puzzling decision to keep one of the best skater, shooter and pair of hands on the team so low in the line up.

Countless of players had a lot of opportunities while not producing but he needed a two goal game in 7 min and after two period they put him back on the fourth.
