You don't have to put someone on IR. The benefit of it is that you can open a roster spot to cover for the player on IR.
Okay, I think I got it now. (And crumbs all over my keyboard.) So if you declare a player injured you can bring someone else on the roster, but if you just think he's nicked for a few days, you don't replace him.

And in other news, the windows of the staff cafeteria just went totally white. It turns out that having temperatures mostly in the +2 to -2 range means you get an incredible amount of snow squalls here.

I've got my paws crossed for tonight. We need to nip this losing streak.

Tough break for Gus.

I have had my suspicions about how "day to day" Nik is ever since it was announced. We will see.

Personally I think:

Names - Vilardi - Scheiefe
Connor - Lambert - Perfetti

would be a better combination as Connor could drive that 2nd line. Not sure who the driver on that new 2nd line is right now.
Prior to camp, Arniel talked about the idea of calling a guy like Lambert up in there was an injury in the top 6 - finally, a young skilled player is being eased into the lineup in a role they're suited to, instead of grinding away on the 3rd or 4th line. Pretty sure this is what everyone wanted

As for the line combos, Vilardi and Perfetti are good in their own end and can help insulate Lambo there. Giving him Connor to babysit defensively wouldn't be fair the kid

Man, throwing heinola in on his offside and benching a solid vet - didnt arniel just say we needed millers hard shot on the power play - like last game?

Chevy or chipman had to be the ones making the call on trading up for stan... this is truly baffling. Count on our top 4 playing 24-26 minutes each...

Really cheering for lambert... give him a run of games and dont shelter that line - bit scary to think an injured scheif will now likely be called upon for 22mins or more

I seem to recall hearing it was Zinger who pushed for Stan?

If so, this all makes sense. It's some kind of inside joke with Chevy telling coaches they have to play Stanley so that he can give Zinger shit incessantly and get a little laugh each time

He probably texted him after last game "hey Zinger, man your boy looked GOOD out there today!". I can just picture the goofy grin on chevy's face as he hits "send"

Well that lineup certainly gives one something to focus on more than just the state of the game. Lots to chew on.

I've been so entrenched at our prospects being plunked in on the 4th line to start I'm not even sure what to think about Lambert on the 2nd. It's kind of wild.

As for the third pair of Ville and Stan: won't that be....interesting.

Well that third pairing is interesting to say the least.
Yep, interesting is a word.
My dad used to say interesting doesn’t mean I like it or its good: “ Monkey Puzzle trees are interesting, I think they are ugly and look stupid, but they sure are interesting!”

I wonder if you get to see both Lambert and Heinola on PP2, unlikely, but it would be a change. Perfetti didn't look impactful on the top PP last game.

Nice to be able to call up Brad from across the hallway.

What's the over/under on Stanley-Heinola? On paper it doesn't look bad good skater behind a bad skater. Can they make it 10 minutes? 15? Can Stan stay out of the box?

Will we see a Lambert goal assisted by Heinola that reinvigorates all prospect hope?

This is the same stubborn management group that kept the NHL's worst starter in goal here for 5 seasons.

I posted in a pre season thread somewhere that I would be happy if the Jets brought up players that are supposed to be offenseive top 6 types from the AHL if needed instead of moving a 3rd or 4th liner up. So I'm glad to see how this will go. I hope Nic is back in that 7 to 10 day window, but I'd also like to see Lambert at least get a few games.

Someone mentioned Gus earlier, and while I think bringing up Lambert is a good move (we'll see how it goes), I do think Gus looked pretty good in the recent game he got into. I thought he was moving pretty fast (for him), and he looked like he was trying to be really physical. Looked like someone giving their all to try and stay in / make a good impression. If someone needs a break in the bottom 6 I think he'll be ready.

It will be interesting to see if Scheifele does go to the wing. Whatever he is dealing with is obviously affecting him pretty good.

Looks like it's Stanley-Heinola on the 3rd pairing. I'm not expecting good things.
Yeah and the net result will be Heinola being scratched and Stanley getting yet another chance if they get torched.

Now that the bloom is fading from Arneil’s
Rose ( historic start )
The HF knives will be out ( it’s so Winnipeg )
The line up decisions will be scrutinized way more critically than the first 20 games and rightly so.

Maybe just trying to get a spark with KC, as playing C expends a lot more energy. And Vilardi is cold. All those draws though put him in a prime 2C position at least for faceoffs. I want to see how that one pays off, because you'll probably see Stanley-Heinola behind this line in the o-zone. If that 2nd line works, maybe open up a spot for Nik on the top line coming back.
