Tank looked fuller than usual today too. Wonder if it’s the holiday or if fans are just realizing the team is extremely exciting now.

I think Celebrini has really shown himself to be must-see TV the last few weeks.. That along with the the recent goal scoring and Smith starting to come on, I have to imagine fans are much more interested in watching this team live.

Crazy what happens when you aren't playing with Barclay Goodrow. :sarcasm:

Seriously, I really dig these lines. Might as well take advantage of Kostin's skill when he's motivated.

100% they’re probably the best possible lines we can put together with this current lineup. Honestly, if we had a legit even #2 defenseman, this team could actually do some damage…. Especially if the offense keeps playing like they are.

Idk, Smith is NOT an NHL caliber player right now... NEEDS to be sent down to the AHL

/s
No doubt about it :))

It’s so great to see him finding his stride. A bit lucky on the the goal, like Cardwells, in that grubauer couldn’t stop a beach ball.

Still, he continues to noticeably improve and produce. 3 straight two pound games is impressive! His defensive play was head and shoulders better today too. That’s been the biggest improvement of late. Hats off to him and Warsofsky…

Fun game, nice to pocket a win with so many tough games coming up in December and early January.

Glad that Warso has finally said f*** it and isn't doing the conservative coaching thing by adding low-skill defensive players with young guys to "protect them." Smith looked so much better with Granlund, and I'm glad Warso didn't force the Lund line again since Celebrini looks great up there too. Shocker that Kostin looks a lot better and more engaged playing with Smith/Granlund than he did with Sturm, Grundstrom, etc. Assuming everyone stays healthy, would really like to see those 2 lines stay the same with X-Wennberg-Toffoli and X-Sturm-X as the other two lines (fill out open spots with Kunin, Dellandrea, Goodrow, Cardwell). Thrun-Rutta is a bit of a mess...would be nice to see Thompson come in for one of them. Vanecek honestly kinda sucks, so I'm betting he stays at the TDL since Blackwood will have more value.

To be fair though, Smith looked good with Granlund after being sheltered with Kunin and Goodrow and allowed to work on his game. I think it helped.

Kostin seems to have really struggled emotionally the 8 games he sat and I really like everything he’s said in his interview. I really hope the dude figures it out because, again, there’s a real good middle six winger in there.

Curious as to how Liljegren is doing for you guys?

Was sad when the Leafs moved him as I was a believer in him but he didn’t have the freedom to fail and learn with the big spotlight in Toronto.

Really good offensively. Passable defensively if only because he’s one of the few guys that can actually move the puck. I think he’s probably like a #5 on a really good team but he’s been hugely necessary for us.

He's our 2nd best D, which is a sign of how bad this team is, but he's playing like a legit 2nd pair player most nights

I think he's someone whose effort and confidence levels are really affected by where his head's at. I remember towards the end of last year he was interviewed and asked something like "what's working for you here that wasn't in Detroit", and his response was basically that he was getting ice time and opportunities higher in the lineup and felt like he was valued.

I hope he gets sorted out a bit, because I truly believe there's a Valeri Nichushkin (f*** that guy) level ice hockey player in there.

He's exactly as expected. Solid #4. Has some offense to him. Not bad defensively, but some moments of ish. Handles the puck and is capable of making a breakout pass, which immediately makes him our second best defenseman after Walman.

His greatest accomplishment is making Mario Ferraro look like a legit NHL defenseman, which I didn't think was possible, so there's that.

Missed the game but figured I’ll ask, when are they sending Will Smith to the AHL? He’s obviously not ready

That reaction to his goal, albeit a nice rebound positioning goal, was pretty evident.

Great job by my favorite team forever!

Also game aired in a pretty nice time for Finnish people.

This team is just so much fun to watch.

Credit to Warsofsky for finally working out lines that actually allow the players to flourish and not handcuffing them.

Also seems like his messaging is really taking effect in the room as well. From players talking about grabbing and hanging onto that feeling when they win, to Kostin today talking about the playing group getting around him when he was being scratched. He really has pulled the group together.

Moves the puck better than most of our defensemen, but sometimes struggles to win puck battles which is a common trait amongst our defensive corps. But on our team, he's allowed to play through mistakes because we have no one better. Had a real nice goal to open our game today, but is not so good offensively that you can excuse the issues in our own end.

I think in an ideal world where we get two better defensemen someday to be in our top pair, he probably slots somewhere between a 2nd and 3rd defensive pairing. Pairing him with someone that brings the physicality and ability to win puck battles would help him immensely.

Why can’t I delete this lol

But how many of those points are secondary assists? I'm willing to bet it's all of them. Can you really call those points?
I mean they are practically AHL points if you’re being honest with yourself
