Players sign for their value. Sometimes they don't play to the value or overplay the value, but multiple teams offered him that money that was his market.

You posted about a goalies performance. Saying this is what 6m gets you, remember that. As if that's what all 6m goalies will bring. You singled out a player that has been crapped on for years to make a point that not paying a high price for a goalie will get you this. You're being ridiculous with your value comparison to houses.

Trouba not to blame, but there is something to be said about management chasing out the team captain despite his trade protections that gets everyone uncomfortable. The entire league knows how pampered nyr players are. There's a LOT of extra benefits for these players beyond the money by playing for NYR. Off-ice perks for the team.
