I agree he should be playing better, but you must understand, the Rangers have absolutely, positively, no playmakers on the forward core, let alone of his caliber.
Doesn't mean a thing without finishers....Rangers have a team full of players with passitis -- as well as forwards who can't seem to score.

You know, we sit and argue about skill and the whole "character" thing but I really think they go hand in hand.

The SAME PEOPLE THAT HAVE BEEN IN CHARGE SINCE I'M NINE YEARS OLD (and we need to start being honest about that) don't get offense. They don't get coaching it and they don't get developing it. Instead, they just keep chasing empty platitudes about grit and sandpaper.

And then you know what? That aspect of the team also ends up disappointing everyone because it's meaningless. They're doing the empty gestures; there's fights every game now.

The fact is, it's not a fight club. You need the boys getting excited about hockey plays that fit the identity. Getting to "the dirty areas" requires a cohesive plan. They don't have a plan or an identify. They're not developing players. They might be friends but there's no togetherness on the ice. How could there be.

I know people want to see effort but I've never seen a team woeful at offense and fundamentals that looks like they care. How can they do hockey with enthusiasm? They can't do hockey at all.

Sather puppet #2 will inevitably respond by adding more players that *look* like they care because they're slow and have to hustle everywhere (Goodrow) but end up compounding the problem. And that's it right there. That's why we keep seeing the same thing over and over again. They don't understand that character comes from skill, fundamentals, and identity, not punching after the whistle and acting like children.

Coaches can certainly come in and create change immediately. Happened last year (or year before) with the Blues (IIRC) & with Montreal. I still believe, based on how this team player earlier in the year, that they can turn it around. But they won't with f***ing sloth from the goonies back there.

For $12mm, you’re supposed to make others better. Zucc was the “line doctor” who fixed every struggling line with his vision and work ethic.

Panarin is a great talent, but if he can’t adjust his game or make his teammates better, than he’s not the right fit for this group nor worth his cap hit. Find a way to move on.
Agree 100%

He's literally outside the dots all the time not conducting basic NHL offense. His points all come pp bc he's the pass player with fox for zib. Panarin's "offense" is post on the dot for a cross ice pass or stand on the boards and throw it behind the net. He does nothing off the rush and continues to avoid the slot like plague
He was always a perimeter player. We signed him knowing what he is. You need passers to succeed. His teammates need to do something.

I legitimately think Gallant should be swarmed & arrested To Catch a Predator-style when he tries leaving MSG tonight
Chris Hansen: "Did you bring all these kids here with the intent to 'play'?"

Gallant: "No! Not at all. I was never going to do that."

Hansen: "What about all this protective equipment?"

Gallant: ...
