That's a really good first period. Two quick goals will break their spirit. Then we can focus on breaking Tootoo.

I have a theory about Tootoo:

Tootoo worked well in Nashville, because they were a team that played mostly with grit.
They start playing better when they start hitting. Whereas Detroit plays with skill before grit. Tootoo goes in, and pisses the other team off, and the game gets more physical. A team like ours, that's how we need to play. Tootoo comes in, and ends up just activating more players on our roster, and getting them more involved, whereas I think that Detroit doesn't seem to be able to handle it when that happens and we give them a hard forecheck and start getting quite physical, and they start making turnovers and folding. So while Tootoo worked for a team like Nashville, it's actually counter productive for a team like Detroit. Of course I haven't seen enough Detroit games to see if they really like a physical game, but it just seems like Tootoo is a catalyst on the wrong team.

Just a theory.

Foligno gave Tootoo a Glasgow kiss in that goal mouth scram at the end of the period. Don't know if FSO caught it, I'm stuck watching FS De...BELLE TIRE.

Played a good first road period. Hope we continue to bore them to death and capitalize on a mistake or two.

OT: Think I'll stay out of the Detroit GDT today. They got a little testy when I defended that "we are the most pathetic franchise in NHL history."

You argued that we were or were not? One could easily argue either side.

I've always liked Tootoos physical play and being tough as nails but this year he is playing dirty which i hate. Keep hitting and being physical but stop the head hunting and answer the bell when you should.
