Always frustrating to lose when you out shoot your opponent 39-11 but I don’t really blame Blackwood for 2 of those goals. The one handed deflection GWG and the cross crease pass on the PP. Sens were really opportunistic when we had defensive lapses/turnovers.

Alas, despite the loss, I’m happy with how all the young guys played once again. Eklund putting things together on a consistent basis (chem with Celebrini too). Smith is figuring things out and getting a feel for pace of the game (8 points in 12 now). He’s definitely putting more work in defensively too albeit needs to learn how to use his body rather than strength or lack there of. Mack continues to be Mack. Super exciting stuff.

Crowd was really happy for Smith after he scored and they put him up on the screen. Especially, after already having a beautiful no look assist to Ferraro. A win would have been nice but as long as the young guys are playing well/we are competitive, I don’t mind the losses to help us secure a top 4 pick.

Unfortunate game with a lot of good for team teal! We need to destroy next team we face (Seattle)
The kids are allright! Damn right!
I would entertain the idea of trading Granlund at TDL, but kinda scared to put Celebrini as the 1C for the remainder of the season. Not because of the skill he obviously has but because of the mental and physical load he will have as an 18 year old on a rebuilding team. He still needs to be a little sheltered imo and given time to really get used to NHL load both physically and mentally.

Sens broadcast on the whole isn't bad. They have Cheryl Pounder doing the intermission analysis. I generally enjoy her any time I'm watching TSN coverage of stuff (like the WJCs).

Though they just showed highlights of the Capitals/Lightning game with the Caps goalie shooting the puck into his own net and she casually threw out there with no further details that she once scored into her own net twice in one game and I feel short-changed that we didn't get to hear anything about that story because... how? It's not as embarrassing as a goalie doing it, but still.

Nem, sometimes I feel like you were chosen as the HFSharks representative for Canada and you're reporting back on the great white north as a social experiment....cracks me up.

One thing I like about Smith is his willingness to join in on the grind. He's terrible at it right now and looks like a puppy playing with dobermans sometimes but he's putting in the work. Usually it's more of a struggle to get these kind of offensive prospects committed to that.

I don't know if he really needs to work on his strength necessarily but he really needs to learn leverage more. Celebrini has a ridiculous understanding of how to use leverage to win battles. He keeps his center of mass low and he pivots a lot when protecting the puck.

Smith plays pretty upright and when he engages on the boards, you see him kinda just push at guys with his upper body. He also needs to learn from Eklund how to position his body to absorb contact and get the speed boost from it.

Yeah honestly Smith is really lucky to have Celebrini and Eklund as fellow young guys to push him and make him work on all parts of his game. Both are so responsible and, like you said, while smaller can grind surprisingly well. Add Granlund as a teacher and it’s really an ideal team to help him grow into his own.

Another historic game? When's the last time the Sharks gave up 11 shots (or fewer) in a game? I can't remember! Perhaps during the DPE...

I believe it was posted some where in here, but i believe both of them were in 2008 or something like that.

I’ve really liked Kostin since he’s come back. I actually wonder if like a Kostin - Smith - Toffoli line is worth trying out.
If you were to compare kostin to a weapon and technique he'd be the thrown baseball bat.
