Can’t touch the Eklund-Celebrini-Zetterlund line when Granlund comes back. They just work so well together.

Toffoli is definitely struggling but I feel like he might be good with a Smith or Granland to feed him the puck.
Eh keep Ek and Mack together they need a power forward on that line. Plus it spreads out the offense

I think Toffoli and Granlund need to be together. Granlund seems to have worked magic with all of his line mates so far. I

He's not. There's enough tape on him over the past year and a half to not be defined by a couple of bad games. GMs don't have kneejerk reactions the way we do.
My take on Blackwood is he can get hot and look great for a few games at a time but he can't keep it up with any consistency. We see the hot streaks and think there's a legit starter in there (I know I keep falling for it), but every time he gets a starter's workload, the real Blackwood comes out. I would imagine that's why Colorado, Edmonton, Carolina & co haven't forked over a good pick for him yet.

Maybe the kneejerk reaction is thinking he's a legit starter after a few good starts?

THEY SELL HOCKEY STICKS FULL OF BEER AT THE TANK NOW!?!?
I was going through Sharks Pro Shop yesterday and saw a Beer Hockey Stick for sale, didn't pay too much attention and just wondered what was it about. I suppose this explains.

A mini rant, I'd love to buy some items from that shop but shipping to Finland is 50 USD and the customs tax is a mere 25.5% added to the price of the items. I love my Sharks and I order a bunch of band stuff from the US but that shipping rate is too much even for me, unless I'm buying stuff worth like 500 USD which I'm not.

No but it’d be nice to have him around
It would probably mean the goddamn Lund line being reunited which hurts Macklin and the team overall. Maybe a snap judgment but I’m ready to move on from Granlund after watching the last two games without him. His age and size make him a bad fit with the core we’re building anyway.

That's fair, but I'm no longer on the side of "hope we have a good showing but ultimately lose" in each game.

I'm not necessarily on the side of hoping for that. I would've been cool with them hanging on to win. But I am on the side of accepting that as a net positive outcome so that it doesn't effect me negatively from an emotional standpoint.

Mac has shown that he's better when he faces a lot of rubber. Like I said earlier, his worst games aside from this one were the games he face 18, 20 and 23 shots. His best were 35, 38, 39 and 44 shots.

I have a work UPS account. I wonder if I can get stuff to you cheaper from here.

He’s the most valuable trade asset the Sharks have. They should plan to move him.

Yeah but he’s probably not returning much. Maybe a 2nd. The real reason to move Granlund is it just doesn’t make a lot of sense to extend him.

What do you attribute that to? To me, that sounds like mental weakness and would be a big reg flag for me if I was a GM.

Also, I thought he looked pretty bad vs Buffalo and he faced 30 shots that game for what its worth.

I don't know if you'll be saying the same thing next week when they face Carolina, Florida, Washington and TB on the road
I think we probably get our asses kicked by those teams whether or not we have Granlund in the lineup.

Some goalies just play better when they're busier. Ullmark is another. It's tough on a goalie when you don't see a shot for nearly an hour when you factor in stoppages and the intermission. The tip was pretty tough to react fast enough for, even if you've been busy.

I thought he was fine in Buffalo. I thought the whole team seemed to run out of gas in that third.

Probably, but not having last change means we can't just throw Celebrini out there every time it's convenient. Also, I don't really think playing these guys 25 a game is good for their development. They're gonna be gassed by February.

I agree that's a dynamic. What do you attribute it to? I attribute it to mental weakness (the inability to stay engaged even when not actively being shot on). I don't mean that to throw shade or call the guy dumb or anything, but I think this is one of the things that separates starters from platoon guys/backups. I mean think about it, there's a reason a guy like Sway got way more $ than Ullmark, right?

Also, maybe I'm just bent around the axel on the Buffalo game because that was the first game I was able to go to in years but that Cousins goal was awful and the Tuch goal is one of those that you really just need your goalie to make a save on that one. I think he cost them the game, though I grant you the whole team did certainly seem to run out of gas in that game vs tonight when they looked good until the end.

His age and track record him a bad fit for any team with a timeline like ours but it’s an overreaction to say we’re better right now without him based on two games against average at best teams (And one of those games was just handed to us by Rittich). Granlund is still a good player who makes the team better right now and I’m confident enough in Warsofsky that he wouldn’t split up Eklund and Celebrini after seeing how they’ve played together.

The priority though is maximizing his trade return. I think that’s more likely done at the TDL than it is right now.

Ullmark and Swayman got the same exact AAV and they were both used as platoon goalies on the same team.

I'm fully on team "I hope everybody on both sides plays their best and nobody gets hurt" until we're a team that matters again. If this is still about "hockey's future" I'm fine with rooting for the long game
