I heard that. Was no where in the Hockey loving Phoenix area able to host hockey?
Phx is comprised of 12-16 cities each having their own jurisdictions, laws, tax incentives (or not) and generally strong attitudes to do what is best for their own smaller pop and not the larger metro area. There isn’t an org that really is the proponent for the larger metro. As said, it’s complicated.

On what level would it have “worked” though you know. Just barely scraping by? A real hockey community would have pitchforked their way to a team. Floridas been at it for how long and they still have empty seats after a Cup season. Is San Jose making a profit yet?
Edmonton almost lost the Oilers. They're not here because Edmontonians went marching. We weren't showing up for games at that time either. I think you might be romanticizing what a real hockey community is and how much influence it has.

There's money in Phoenix, a lot of people, and a lot of transplants. I think it could be a successful business if you show the community that it's something worth caring about.

Politics. Scottsdale probably would have had a shot, but it just turned into a mess with various city admins (and I think an airport authority).
No that was more so in Tempe. The laat
proposed site was going to be in Scottsdale but right on the border with PHX at Scottsdale rd and the 101 freeway exit and believe it or not. Infrastructure servicing became an issue between the two munis on that tract of land. Eventually mureluo decided to not bid on it and soon thereafter the Yotes were in Utah.

Knowing oiler fans can’t blame Skinner for this wretched performance and choke job? I’ll sleep just fine ;)
They both suck bud. Pickard just sucks less.

They need to replace pickard so skinner can develop properly (don't think he has it in him mechanical Imo) or trade skinner

Its a travesty if they don't give pickard 2/3 games. Better numbers bigger saves

When he shits the bed, go with skinner until he shits it.

Canadian dollar effed us. But the huge contingent of local business owners came together and saved hockey here…. And now we have a top 5 revenue and valuation team far outperforming the size of our market.

Like I said maybe it could “work” in Arizona. But how hard do you need to try. And how many things need to go exactly right for it to make a profit. It all seems like square hole round peg stuff to me.
