thought their entire defense corps was quietly good tonight. Zadorov and Peake especially.

Forwards were all trying hard I thought. They certainly aren’t a wow you group but you couldn’t fault their effort.

That Marchand penalty was bs. I get the league loves goals but there’s zero chance someone hooks an arm vertically above their head. Just call them both there if you have to but be a little sensible at least. You know what the Wings player was doing there.

Woo!

A win is a win, but they looked sloppier than last game. Too many bad passes.
Pasta needs to stop over-thinking it. How many prime scoring chances did he have? Squandered all of them. Zacha needs to get off the schnide as well.

PK was good though, and Swayman had a solid game. And it was great to see Marchand snipe that snipe.

Onward and forward!

Much better effort from the team these past two games. We'll see if this is the new norm or just a temporary new coach boost. Hoping it's the former.
It cAn be a little of both. Remember, these games coming up are favorable. It gives them a chance to get into a rhythm of what they are trying to change. Don’t get to high or too low. Even a loss can be a learning event, so long as they play consistently. That defensive system needs to be straightened out.it will help on the other side. Baby steps…

Once Pasta gets out of his rut, the goals will come

..but the big question is ...When??
Ya, idk what is wrong with him but I'm just going to throw this out there. He got married this summer. Perhaps some changes in his life have changed his focus on hockey. Or maybe he's listening to the wife's bad advice on how to be better. :)

We need him back to what he was though that's for sure.

If I may add:

Team got better as the game went on. I think that's a major positive and quite the opposite of their norm in the first 20 games.

Sacco said he was going to focus on defensive structure first. Carlo had his best game of the season tonight. Zadorov is playing better. Peake was strong. This was the right call from the new coach.
Yes, two games now I've noticed the D drops back a lot quicker, and they are focused on D first and that is more comfortable I think for Zadorov.
Monty was all about having the D drive the play and now they are just shooting, or dumping it in.

Load up on oranges, vitamin C, and even bring some bananas on the bench…feels and looks like team drops off and lacks 60 minutes of energy.

Can we bring bananas on the bench?
Such a cheerful one, aren’t you? Two consecutive wins? A SNIPE by Marchand to win? Personally, I can’t get the smile off my face. Two lower-tier teams, granted. But I feel better about this team now than I did a week ago. To me, that’s better than feeling worse about them.

Good for Cap

Monty never adjusted his coaching philosophy to fit his team

This surprised me but it’s there

Sweeney should thank his lucky stars Monty wife didn’t like all the noise (btw the stuff I posted about Swayman last summer met with criticism and doubt was bang on. You folks should be thanking me for sharing this stuff - my friends are not dummies)….and I don’t blame her - I would not want my husband coach of this team in this city.

The type of team they have is one that needs to consist of hard working players who play suffocating D and crash the net

Monty style was shit load of space on his side of ice - guys out of position and an offensive philosophy like he had the 1972 Soviets looking for the perfect shot

Good riddance and take your splitting up Marchand & Bergeron game 5 v Florida ‘to see how they would look separated’

We can be happy and critical at the same time. There's obviously still room for improvement in some areas, and it's only been 2 games against teams they probably should beat anyways. The lack of scoring is still alarming for me. Hopefully they've turned a corner. It's a good start but it's best to stay grounded.

Zadorov has been really good the last 2 games. How Sacco wants to play, through just 2 games so far, has seem to really benefit him greatly.

I fell asleep and watched most of the second and all of the third on DVR this morning.

The Bruins are pretty mediocre, but they’re still better than the Red Wings. And that’s good, because you really don’t want to be the Red Wings.

I think Dylan Larkin just lost another offensive zone face off.

Watched it all...liked a lot ...disliked a lot...2 wins over bottom feeder teams .... ain't out of the woods yet but there's more signs of life than preMonty...the simple fact that lines/pairings can gel because Monty's super line blender 5000 has been mothballed will do wonders to combat sloppy play
