Ah, Long John Silver's. Many, many quarters were expunged there. There was a second arcade just a few buildings over as I recall but don't remember the name. Interestingly I recall my mom telling me and my friend not to go to the North side of Portage Avenue because there was "crime" there. South side with The Bay and Eaton's was ok though. LOL. Not surprisingly my buddy and I would get off the bus at the Bay and proceed directly across the street to play pinball.Nostalgia at its best
Awesome thanks Mac !!!!
The Black Sheep Boutique had a really rocking commercial back in the 1970’s
Long John Silvers arcade.
Missed it due to my early/medicated bedtime. Been a few years since I've seen a full beaver moon.Yes so you could see the full Beaver moon last night up close.
I miss being a kid! Much simpler time indeed ,a time I thought naïvely man kind was on a path of improving itself yearly. I was incorrect sadly.GDT brings back all sorts of childhood memories. What a simpler time...
Or due for a push back, whup some ass, take no prisoners...Dallas lost two in a row and three of their last four... they are ripe for the picking... GJG

This isn't the time or place to get into this, but I'd argue that humanity is steadily improving itself. It may not be linear nor universal, but looking back over three-quarters of a century I think we've grown and improved considerably. Of course, your definition of 'improve' may not be mine, but I look at my grandchildren and think we've come a long way from what we were as kids.I miss being a kid! Much simpler time indeed ,a time I thought naïvely man kind was on a path on improving of itself yearly. I was incorrect sadly.
I literally made soup with one yesterday.Getting the sense that there's more than a few here who haven't seen a beaver in years.
Used to go to Mothers arcade on Portage.Ah, Long John Silver's. Many, many quarters were expunged there. There was a second arcade just a few buildings over as I recall but don't remember the name. What was the record/stereo store on the North side? Kelly's records and tapes maybe? Bought a lot of records there. My second set of speakers were bought there circa 1980 or so. Lovely pair of Altec Lansing with 12" woofers. My nephew still has those speakers. I traded them to him for a beer fridge.
Trying to remember other stereo stores now that I bought from. There was one on Sargent or Ellice that was on the second floor. Bought a lovely Nakamichi cassette deck there. Still have that one. Might have been American Hi-Fi, which is still around, just a different location. Creative Audio and Advance have been around forever as well, have bought from both of them. Brian Reimer audio is still going strong and some of the original staff from the store opening are still working there. Freaks me right out because they're so old now (as am I). Bought my very first Technics stereo from them in 1979 and still have the belt drive turntable.
@macmaroon Can never forget Consumer Distributing. I met my wife while she was living just off Pembina Highway, behind the CD down there. My wedding band came from CD. We were dirt poor grad students when we got married. Still wearing it to this day, so Consumers Distributing is always with me. Great GDT, love the nostalgia.
GJG. First game for me in person since the first pre-season game. Woot!
There goes the neighborhood. No Sip here tonight, actually broke down and bought tickets to the game!
