100% dev day coming. Doubt they want to sit them for Saturday's jumbo retirement and a packed house, so I'd expect they'll alternate Smith/Celly on the wed/thurs b2b.

It does seem like they're using the Catapult data to dictate, which is why Celly was such a late decision vs. Philly.

Grier mentioned Catapult in his presser way back about Smith's dev plan and Celly's injury. I dug into it a little then, and then last week, this NYT article came out.

Basically they are monitoring and forecasting load levels. And reading between the lines / taking the hints, they are using this data to try to keep Smith (and I'm guessing Macklin) at load levels below a typical NHL rolling 7-day load. So they might play a back to back, but not if there are other games close on either side.
