No American Tim Thomas, no Cup. 2010 no Tim Thomas blow 3-0 lead.
I stand also by this. I hate when it comes down to players nationality and/or what language they speak. It is a simple, simplest way to answer to this catastrophic season beginning collapse.

This team does not perform for multiple reasons. IMO, the players nationality ain't one!

Bruins gotta look to future. Trade pasta macavoy marchy for picks. They are not winning shit soon.
Trading 2 tops NHL players at 26 and 28 years old sure look like a good plan for the team future.
Also, I really hope Bruins management won't panic and trade assets without the good return which I am not sure could really happen in the current team position/situation.

Hope they keep their head cool

I’m dangling Brandon Carlo in trade offers. Then hoping none of the GMs have seen him play this year.
I think most NHL team would have interest in Carlo.

Pasta looks cooked and Macavoy most overrated #1 d in the league. He can’t manage pp and is abysmal in his own end. Plus he costs 9.5 a year. He needs to go.

If you think it's unfair to fire Monty because of 2 good regular seasons, then how could you fire Sweeney after 9 successful seasons? Since 2015-16 Sweeney has more points than any GM in hockey. He's won GM of the Year, built a team that got to G7 of the Cup Final. So no, that doesn't feel like a fair deal.

If 2 good years buys Monty more than 20 games, what does 9 good years buy Sweeney?

Fwiw, I honestly don't know what to do. Monty has been a great regular season coach, but I can't say I've loved his playoffs. The goalie choices, the too many men penalties, the line juggling... And now he's struggling in the regular season and seems like he's out of answers.

At the same time, shame on the players for not being able to muster up the effort to play 60 minutes consistently. Shame on them for showing up out of shape. Every single player on this team is having a bad season. And the disappointment goes double for Pasta and Swayman who represent $20m on our cap and are playing like they don't want to be here.

Meanwhile Neely and Sweeney hide in their tower and say nothing, do nothing. I know they're trying to make a deal behind the scenes but this situation needs more. Adding a forward isn't going to make Swayman good again. It's not going to fix our PK or our defensive structure.
Sweeney would be on his fourth coach, so not sure that remark is serious.

He's made it past round 2 once, in a decade. The only time he did he played 6, 7 and 8 seeds to get to the cup.

His teams lose in the play-offs as favorites. They lose as underdogs. Like I said fire him, by all means but I want Sweeney gone as well if they don't make the play-offs. They fired a more successful Stanley Cup winning GM for not making it so I would expect the same for him.

The Rangers are no doubt watching this unfold with interest as they are dealing with Shesterkin who thinks he's worth close to 12 million. Bullcrap!

Ullmark floundering in Ottawa as well. Go figure.

At least Sheshterkin has a history of excellence with which to make his contract demands. As I said in a previous post Swayman's deal is chump change compared to what a goaltender of Sheshterkin's level should command.

What really gets me about this team is their lack of pride.

They have been getting booed off the ice in their own building for a while now. Yet they seem to just let it roll off their collective back and come out again and again with unimpassioned play.

We don't see eye to eye very often but on this issue we do. I'm flabbergasted at the lack of pride in this team. I can't even find the words.

Us older fans have seen this movie before. It stunk back then and it stinks now.

Probably by this board's average age I am in the middle, but my serious fandom goes back to the late 80s/early 90s (it was always hard in those days living in non-hockey areas) and I can honestly say I don't remember the team ever being this consistently hard to watch. Recency bias is a thing and maybe the Lewis "era" was just as tough, but even that felt like it was better viewing even though the team kind of sucked.

That is the one thing that is different this time- the team is not fun to watch. Even in the 90s when they were tanking for Thornton they were entertaining despite the lack of talent. This bunch however....

Maybe Heinen was the secret all along?

They certainly miss his versatility and occasional offense.
