They better Play better,

Otherwise, caps will Unlikely beat pens.
I think the boys will play with much more confidence than they did in the first game. It had to have shaken them up, being down 2 so early.

I don't believe any if them will be reckless with hits. Wilson getting that goal was the best thing to happen for him. It should help him focus on plays rather than retaliation or getting goaded into dumb choices.

I hope the first line does great things tonight. Go Caps!!
https://www.nhl.com/capitals/news/b...ps-during-capitals-playoff-game-2/c-288791348

For Game 2 on Saturday, April 15, Budweiser is partnering with the Capitals to truly "Rock the Red" and #LightUpDC. You can pick up the Red Light Cups at participating concession locations throughout the building and watch as your cups light up each time the Capitals score. Arrive early so you can pick up one of the 10,000 Cups that will be distributed to fans 21 years and older.

You can pick up your cup with no purchase at any 100 or 400 level concession stand, the Budweiser Brew House, or the Beck's Lounge. All you need to do is show an ID.

Do the work. Win the game. Move on. No soft goals. I am thinking an OV even a strenth goal would be super

Hoping for a statement win tonight. Would like to see the Caps go up early and stay ahead the entire way.

playoffs board gdt is up but closed until later. It's from the other team as usual but I made sure we got a little hfcaps flavor added... lol

Darn, and I was sure they'd use mine! :sarcasm:

:laugh::laugh:

Really looking forward to seeing which team shows up tonight. If it's the team from the last 15 or so games that was starting to round into the pre all-star break team again I'll be happy. If it's the post all-star team we saw in game 1 I'll be super worried about round 2.

GO CAPS

I am intrigued at the idea of Nate in. If a player is injured to the point it impedes their game in some aspect, I feel like Barry would be dumb to not consider him.

Babcocks Matchup Game

The "avoided" sounds bizarre to me. How can he avoid when it's the Caps who got the last change? And btw, it would be bizarre if he wanted to avoid his best player to play against the weakest line of the opponent.

There are still on-the-fly changes the road coach can make to get his matchups. Still, Trotz should have more control overall of the matchup game.

We need to close out this series ASAP. Looks like Pitt may sweep CBJ and we don't hang them waiting and resting for us .

I don't think we should overthink it.

Rest is good. This whole thing about looking bad after a layoff is just the first few minutes. End it in 4.

yeah I don't understand those stats with away first line change. I clicked the link, but it was a paysite. Which actually may lend some credence to the stats being valid.

I suspect there is some formula to determine who he knew was due out for the caps, and rolled a certain line in anticipation.

This is the door that opens when our coach doesn't line change, it make him predictable to the point stats like those can be generated.

Mirtle said: "Trotz said he wasn't worried about forward matchups. He clearly didn't want Eller vs Matthews though..... Some of this is Trotz."

I don't want to see a macho hit-fest from the Caps tonight. Hit when it's strategic to do so, but don't take yourself out of the play.

How much we hit should revolve around Babcock's response. It works to our advantage if he plays his 4th line more, and if dialing up the physicality makes him do that, then it's a good idea. They played Matt Martin about 33% more in Game 1 than they did all year, and when you consider how decisively we outplayed that line, especially in OT, anything that gets them to do that more works for us.

You're right that we need to be smart about it, but it's something you should always be smart about.
