So now you need style points when you win it all? Who cares how you win the Cup as long as you do FFS
Skinner is playing in his 2nd Conference Final in a row but it’s “unsustainable”
Ok then
Both years we have gotten here despite skinner. Last year he needed a reset mid playoffs and gave the Panthers a nice head start in the finals. This year he had to get yanked from the net due to poor play. The team then rode Picard, whose average goaltending gives him an undefeated record.

Are you seriously claiming that Skinners 2 and 4 record and horrible 80s stats has gotten the team where they are?

Flat out, Skinner’s goaltending has cost the team cups. So no. No it’s not good enough. And depending on this goaltender is not sustainable.

and none of those goalies are still playing

would you rather the better stats or the playing in late may?

talk about not seeing the forrest for the trees.

lol- ironic about missing the Forrest for the trees? Those teams are not playing because their goaltending sucked balls. Oilers are still playing because Pickard came in and saved Skinner’s ass. Also ironic, calling someone e Hellesuck when even his shitty numbers are better than Skinner’s.

as great as Picard has been hes still running an .888 SV%

The oilers don't need a star in net to win.

Remember the goal is the wins, not the higher SV%

Pickard was 8th in goals saved above expected in the playoffs. He is also amongst the leaders in high danger save % while carrying a .935 save % in the 3rd period and OT.

Skinner is dead last in goals saved above expected, dead last in high danger save %, dead last in 3rd period save %

These 2 goalies are not the same. Oh, I also agree with you that they don’t need a star in net to win. They need average goaltending. There is no way you can defend Skinner when he hasn’t had a single game with a save %between .835 and .999

never said they were. You brought Picard into the conversation.

Skinner is our guy. We cant change that. The focus should be the special teams. Thats what will sink us even if Skinner finds his game again

"Skinner helped win the Oilers a championship....but the next goalie could do anything, maybe even help the Oilers win a championship!" is quite the logic

Skinner ain't perfect, but he helped the Oilers get to the Cup final last year, and get to this point right now with his play in the most critical games in the Vegas series
A terribly below average goalie was able to get the team to game 7 so there's no way an upgrade would be able to do the same thing. That's what you're arguing right now. It's actually maddening that people like you exist who feel obligated to come to the defense of a terrible hockey player. Team plays flawless for 60 minutes he's capable of a shutout anything other than that he's letting in at least 5 goals per game how does anyone see anything but flaws in the player is beyond reason at this point.

false....he actually outplayed Oetinger in the WCF, we don't get to the Finals without him
and the Oilers scored 1 goal in the first 2 games in the Finals, but that's Skinner's fault

I've never once said he's the reason we are here, he's he's helped
are we in the Western Conference Finals without his back-to-back shutouts?

zero proof and pure cope

that's not my argument, my argument is with the "we will never win with Skinner!" crowd

we were literally 2 goals away from doing just that last year FFS

I don't care if he was pulled, I don't care if he had bad games...he came up big when the team needed him

once he's gone (and he will be traded a la Dubnyk), the new goalie had better deliver us a Cup with "average goaltending"

Winning despite of him. Not because of him. Huge difference.
