It's funny how a video is titled all 7 goals for a season.

? He played 59 games that season, still finished 50th in goals by a D-man (35th best GPG by a D who played at least 41 games)

Not bad. Above average for sure.

Yeah, that's what all the evidence Micklebot provided shows.

Nowhere near good enough as your top offensive threat from the Blueline if you're trying to make the playoffs.

We don't have a Makar or a McDavid, everyone knows that. We were supposed to be a solid team all-around but that went to hell due to an incredible level of incompetence from the GM

Sanderson and Chabot are supposed to be a dual threat. As much as you try to diminish Chabot, we can keep on bringing more facts if you want.

Since his 2nd NHL season at 21 y/o, he has :

- the 18th best PPG
- the 20th best GPG
- the 20th most ESP

So average results among the Elite.

Brady was -3 last night, on the ice for all 3 goals and scored none. At least Gaudette scored one with his limited minutes. Regardless of how badly Brady plays, his ice-time doesn't change. So much for accountability.
He was a minus 3?! Yeesh.

Here's the skating speed stats from NHL Edge for last season:

Chychrun had more top seed bursts than Jensen over the course of the season.

Here's the shot metrics:

Chychrun wins this category handily. And, not for nothing, but this team has 3G from its blueline this year. A guy who can rip the puck and score goals would be immensely helpful right now.

Finally, here's the zone time metrics:

Chychrun's offensive and defensive zone times are massively better than Jensen's were last year.

Jensen has been a fine fit but he hasn't moved the needle in the same way a Chychrun can.

I’ll admit I didn’t watch Jensen last year. But I did watch Chychrun and he moved the needle in the wrong direction for the this team. And the eye test tells me that Jensen is a better, more fluid skater, which allows him to be much more effective in his own end.

Chychrun brought a much better shot and more offense though, no doubt.

Haven’t watched him this year but I assume he’s a better fit in Washington and got his game back.

But for this team, I’ll take 24/25 Jensen over 23/24 Chychrun 10 times out of 10.

anyone thinking Jensen is better is delusional

A better fit for this team, considering who else is on it (or could be moved).

Chychrun was bad here. Looks like he’s got his game back in Washington, so good for him since he’ll be in line for a nice contract. But no need to sugarcoat how he played for the Sens.

Like others said, having the 20th best offensive defenseman as our best offensive defenseman puts us 20th out of 32. Not good enough.

Maybe it's my wording..I wasn't saying Chabot sucks..I'm saying he's not even average or above average when it comes to being a teams best offensive threat from the Blueline.

He'd be an amazing #2 or a low end #1 offensive D

I'm just saying it's hard to be a championship team when you're best offensive defenseman ranks ~20th in offensive stats.

Not good enough.

Well, Chychrun was God awful here, so if we're talking about impact on the team, Jensen has been way better, but in a vacuum, Chychrun should be better, at least offensively, by a good margin.

It's actually kind of funny, Chychrun had the team worst +/- last year, Jensen has the team best this year.

Our issue this year has been Sanderson and Zub not playing as well as they can.

Yeah regarding Chychrun, he was a bad fit here so having Jensen over him is fine. That doesn’t mean that Chychrun isn’t better and doesn’t have much more value. Jensen is a good stop gap but unfortunately he will never be worth anything close to what we paid to get Chychrun

The discussion was initially about his shot though but on this part, I agree… Chabot isn’t a Top-10 D-man in the league. He stills ranks pretty high though, you have to be quite good to be a Top-32 Dman

But that’s the thing, we expected Sanderson to be even better so normally a Sanderson-Chabot 1-2 punch should put us in a very good position

Problem is Chabot has been substantially better so far. We need Sanderson to elevate his game
