Gaudette needs to play a proper defensive game to be in the top-6.
Is that the standard? Don’t tell Brady!

Brady was shit tonight too. But it was Gaudette who lost his man and got stapled to the bench for most of the game afterwards. Gaudette has a good shot and is a goal scorer, but if he f***ed up enough fo cost us the game it doesn't matter if he scored a goal on a PP where he received a nice pass. He basically made up for his f*** up. Brady was terrible tonight too, no doubt, but Gaudette played maybe 5-mins and cost us the f***ing game. We can't have players playing five minutes and shitting the bed defensively. Brady plays more minutes because he's better than Gaudette. If he was better, Gaudette would have been in the NHL a lot sooner and not be a tweener. Gaudette still has bad habits and he's 28. He's 28 and a tweener. Is that the standard? Don’t tell Brady!
Green doesn't have the balls to staple Brady to the bench and he had many reasons to do so throughout the season so far.Brady was shit tonight too. He has an infuriating tendency to hold onto the puck for a second or two too long to maybe draw in a defender and then let the shot/pass go for it to only get blocked or get deflected.Chabot is so frustrating to watch. He moves the puck well, skates well, and has great puck handling, but his offensive instincts are weak. He is slow at making decisions, slow at taking shots, his shots are often low calibre/muffins and he never shoots when there is a lane, he will 75-85% of the time defer to someone else to shoot.
He should do it. I am not sure it's about balls. That was Gaudette's man on the first goal. Brady was also terrible during that play. They both should have been benched.Green doesn't have the balls to staple Brady to the bench and he had many reasons to do throughout the season so far.
I agree both Brady and Gaudette didn't take their man on that first goal. Both were watching 2 or 3 steps behind. He should do it. I am not sure it's about balls. That was Gaudette's man on the first goal. Brady was also terrible during that play. They both should have been benched.
the problem I have is that Green chose to keep Gaudette around over Ostapchuck. Opstapchuck is the better overall player and the player that is still developing. What we see with Gaudette is essentially what we're going to get. He's a goal scoring specialist with not much else to offer. I find him to be a liability defensively. People want Gaudette on the first PP and in the top-6. I personally don't think he's capable of playing those minutes.I agree both Brady and Gaudette didn't take their man on that first goal. On the other hand, to send a message to the team, players like Brady need to be benched when they f*** up.
It's insane, honestly. I cannot believe how we've allowed these teams to come in and roll over us. This team has a problem between the ears.I love how Edmonton loses to Montreal, Toronto, and Minnesota, but beats us in the middle on their 3rd game in 4 nights.
We’re nothing more than the NHL’s punching bag.
I've seen enough of Cousins. He's not the difference between wins and losses except possibly the Vegas game where he took a penalty but it's an easy change to call up someone to replace him.
Tkachuk was the only top-6 defensive liability I saw tonight. But, he also played hard and smacked the shit out of some Vegas players with decent hits. We can't shelter Gaudette in the top-6. We need a fourth line center who can do more than score one every once in a while on the PP. Gaudette isn't going to win us games. Winning defensive zone face-offs and getting the puck down ice, limiting the other teams offensive zone time is going to win us games. Ostapchuck does a lot more on the defensive side of the puck than Gaudette. Our problem is not offense, it's defense. Defense has been our problem for many seasons now.We can't afford to scratch Gaudette for the simple fact that he can score on the PP. Who else are you putting out there? A Greig - Amadio - Cousins unit?
We'd be able to shelter him defensively and have him be a pure PP specialist if many of our "top" players also didn't suck defensively...
Strong disagree on Jensen vs Chychrun. Jensen is a faster, more fluid skater.
And yeah, Perron is slow. So was Tarasenko. Cousins is slow. So was Kastelic.
Those are marginal players. I don’t think having Joseph over Amadio makes this a good team.
The problem is that too many guys playing 18 minutes a night are slow and lack finish.
We never beat Vancouver. Calgary is like 50/50. I’m pretty sure we lost both games to Anaheim last year lmao.Well the bright side is that we're done with this three game stretch of the teams we suck the most against, Carolina, Edmonton and Vegas. It's uphill from here, friends.

Eyup. It's all well and good to talk about benching Brady and Gaudette for their defensive miscues, but when they're some of the few players producing on a pretty anemic offense, it's not like we have a lot of choices. It'd be an easier sell if the supporting core was pulling more of the offensive weight.Paces per 82 games (2023-24 vs 2024-25)
Stutzle vs Stutzle : 77 pts vs 99 pts
Tkachuk vs Tkachuk : 75 pts vs 86 pts
Batherson vs Batherson : 66 pts vs 78 pts
Giroux vs Giroux : 64 pts vs 56 pts
Norris vs Norris : 49 pts vs 56 pts
Pinto vs Pinto : 54 pts vs 22 pts (11 GP)
Greig vs Greig : 30 pts vs 26 pts
Tarasenko vs Perron : 59 pts vs 0 pts (8 GP)
Joseph vs Amadio : 40 pts vs 17 pts
Kastelic vs Gaudette : 13 pts vs 41 pts
Kubalik vs Cousins : 17 pts vs 17 pts
Kelly vs Gregor : 18 pts vs 15 pts
So in terms of production, our best forwards have improved their paces so far. Giroux is pacing for a bit less but Norris compensates for that.
The problem is definitely Pinto and the new faces. Only Gaudette surprising goal scoring offsets that a little. Perron and Amadio are supposed to contribute (was not a big fan of these signings)
What is SCARY is that EVERYONE except 6 players (Stutzle, Tkachuk, Batherson, Norris, Gaudette and Giroux) is pacing for less than 10 goals so far... That is really alarming.
So, what you're saying is all the guys Dorion brought in are doing well, and the guys Staios brought in are doing poorly?Paces per 82 games (2023-24 vs 2024-25)

Why does tkatchuk start gliding. He’s in line with the guy who would eventually get the breakaway.
It's not a good pinch by Kleven but holy hell Tkachuk's effort there was pathetic.
If we're trading a core piece, to me, it's him. Biggest return (outside of Sanderson and Stü). Biggest shakeup. He's mailing it in these days and our season is literally on the line. Not cool.
